Volunteers Needed: National Road Crash Rescue Competition 🚨

Palmerston North is proud to be hosting the UFBA National Road Crash Rescue Competition next week - and organisers are looking for community volunteers to help bring the event to life, volunteering as simulated patients in crash and trauma scenarios.

📅 Thursday 11 June
⏰ 8:00am – 5:00pm
📍 Palmerston North & Manfeild

Volunteers play an important role in creating realistic rescue scenarios for firefighters and emergency service personnel competing from around New Zealand.

This could be a great opportunity for students, workplace teams, community groups, or anyone interested in supporting emergency services and being part of a unique behind-the-scenes experience.

As a member of the local Palmy community, Palmy BID want to hear your perspectives and experiences regarding the safety and security in the city centre at night-time on Thursday- Saturday nights, in relation to the Safe City Hosts who a patrol the city centre on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights every week to assist the Police, business owners and the public in positively deescalating any situations that may be arising, providing first aid where required, keeping people safe from harm and helping with general information about the City Centre along with providing directions and other support.

Sound familiar? We have conducted this survey before, though would like to see how views have changed with increased efforts from the Safe City Hosts.

City Centre Refresh Project 🏢🎨

Palmy BID and Palmerston North City Council have completed our second refresh project for the Bryant Building at 85 The Square. Look how tidy it is now!👇

Wallace Development Company Limited are delighted with the outcome of the recent painting of the facade of 85 The Square, with an emphasis made on really highlighting the exceptional detail of the building. The colours are bold and striking whilst being in keeping with the colour palette of the period when the building was originally built. Credit to designer Alan Passchier, for coming up with the colour scheme and for Doug Bradley painters for executing it so well.

Wallace Development Company are long term investors and developers of commercial property in Palmerston North and recently competed the Timezone store at 113-116 The Square, which was a new build behind the retained facade.

They are also the owners of the residential subdivision at Centennial Park, Hokowhitu, which is now entering a third stage of new sections.

Palmy BID are stoked with the result and cannot wait for our next building’s refresh (watch this space!) 👀

Palmy BID recently had the pleasure of attending the re-launch of Aqaba Restaurant & Bar – reimagined for a new era! ✨

We’d like to congratulate Mo (Director), Chef Mark Harman (Artisan Kitchen), Streffan Drysdale (Redline Coffee) and the Aqaba team on the successful re-opening of one of Palmy’s much-loved iconic restaurants. It was fantastic to see the space buzzing again and to celebrate this exciting new chapter with them! 🫶
