Today, QueenPads celebrates the men who make a difference in the lives of children, families and communities.

To dads, stepdads, grandfathers, foster fathers, father figures, mentors, and every man who carries the responsibility of a father — thank you for showing up with love, strength, guidance and care.

Fatherhood is more than a title. It is found in the everyday acts of providing, protecting, listening, encouraging and creating safe spaces for children to grow with confidence and dignity.

We especially celebrate the fathers who support their daughters through every stage of life — including their menstrual journey — with understanding, openness and compassion. Because when families talk openly about health and wellbeing, we create stronger, healthier and more empowered communities. 💚

One of the hardest conversation we have undertaken 8 years ago is surrounding the still sensitive topic of Menstruation/ Period/ Sikmun.

It has always been the hardest because of how it is potrayed as shameful, dirty and in some cultural context, a taboo to be distanced from. Yet other cultures celebrate its beginnings as a transition of growth that is significantly more about embracing womanhood.

This natural process and its monthly management has for so long recognized as a personal responsibility, yet thousands of women and school girls are challenged managing this alone given the limited resources available, and lack of support. The ultimate risk leads to poor women's health.

We believe that by normalizing the conversations, and labeling it as special ignites more interest to recognize menstrual needs and support.

Our ongoing Menstrual Health and Hygiene awareness program has been an eye opener, and an opportunity for learning and sharing of experiences too. The more informed women are, the better their priorities will be for their special days needs and management.

Today, we celebrate 8 incredible years of QueenPads! 🎉👑

What began as an attempt to address a personal challenge has grown into a purpose-driven movement addressing menstrual needs reaching tens of thousands of Queens across our communities - one product, one awareness session, one school and one community program at a time.

For 8 years, we have believed that every young girl and woman deserves to manage her period with dignity, confidence and without shame.

It is evident that thousands of women and young girls in the wider communities of our country still lack access to basic hygiene knowledge, hence manage themselves with poor hygiene practices that costs their health.

And while some of our cultural beliefs and practices may not allow for such sensitive conversations, we are grateful to community leaders and women themselves who make an effort to learn as they understand the importance of having such conversations.

Our awareness team with tireless efforts continue to normalise Menstrual conversations in rural communities, and recognising women and young girls as Queens always put a smile on their faces. And the fact that they received bonus Queenpads really shifts the way they see Menstruation, and themselves. Truly an empowering experience we are grateful to initiate in partnership with various organizations and volunteers.

Whether at home, school, workplace or evacuation centre:
✅ Functional toilets/latrines
✅ Separate facilities for women and girls (only where possible)
✅ Privacy locks
✅ Adequate lighting
✅ Water available near toilets
✅ Soap/handwashing facilities
✅ Menstrual product disposal bins
✅ Facilities accessible to people with disabilities
✅ Safe spaces for changing menstrual products
✅ Private washing and drying areas for reusable products

📌Important: During emergencies, menstrual hygiene facilities should be designed around dignity, privacy, safety and accessibility, not simply the availability of toilets.
