Oftentimes, architects and designers are tasked to come up with a project’s big idea.

But do they stop and ask “What does the site want?”

By observing a site’s unique characteristics and identifying cues, we can imagine projects that provide flexibility for a range of uses, resilience during unforeseen challenges, and connection to their surroundings for our occupants.

This week, Alan and Oren presented the concept of “Letting the Land Lead” at the 2026 Austin Design Excellence Conference. Participants were able to see this idea come to life through a live demonstration of site analysis, programming, and conceptual sketching.
