Meet the Team: Abby Schultz, DT 🧩

Abby is the heart behind our Neuro Clinic and behind so many families finding a new way forward.

As a Developmental Therapist, Behavior Specialist, Psychometrist, and Early Intervention Practitioner, Abby supports neurodivergent children and their families through a neurodiverse-affirming, relationship-based approach. She works with kids navigating autism, ADHD, developmental disabilities, giftedness, anxiety, and selective mutism , helping them build communication, emotional regulation, and a strong sense of identity.

Her style is child-led and play-based, drawing from DIR/Floortime, Responsive Teaching, and the Hanen Program, with Polyvagal Theory and trauma-sensitive practices woven throughout. Abby is passionate about helping parents move from compliance-driven approaches toward connection-centered parenting that builds resilience and confidence.

She holds a Master’s in Education with a certificate in Early Intervention and Developmental Support, is trained in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), and — as a mother to two neurodivergent children herself — brings lived experience into every session.

Abby offers autism evaluations, parent coaching, DIR/Floortime play therapy, IEP advocacy, and neurodiverse-affirming family support — in-person, in-home, or virtually.

Grateful for the way you lead our Neuro Clinic, Abby đź’›

Your first relationships taught you more than you realize.

The way we were held, soothed, and responded to as children doesn’t just stay in childhood , it becomes the blueprint for how we connect (or struggle to connect) in our adult relationships. The patterns we learned early on show up in how we handle conflict, how safe we feel being vulnerable, and how we show up for the people we love.

The good news? These patterns aren’t permanent. Therapy can help you understand your attachment style, where it came from, and most importantly, how to build healthier, more secure relationships moving forward.

If you’re curious about your own patterns or ready to do the work of bettering your relationships, we’re here for it. 💛

Art doesn’t ask you to explain yourself. It just asks you to show up.

Art therapy gives our clients a way to process what words sometimes can’t reach — a safe, guided space to explore emotions through creativity, not critique. No talent required. Just willingness.

Curious how this looks in session? Reach out to learn more about our art therapy offerings at Purposeful Growth & Wellness.

Meet the Team: Amy Soranno, DT 🌱

If you’ve ever wished someone could just get your toddler — Amy is that someone.

As a Developmental Therapist and Infant Mental Health Practitioner, Amy specializes in supporting parents of toddlers and young children through family-centered, neuroaffirming care. Her belief? The most meaningful growth doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens in the context of loving, responsive relationships.

With over two decades of experience and a Master’s in Child Development from the Erikson Institute, Amy brings deep expertise in DIRFloortime, PLAY Project, Hanen, and Triple P but what really sets her apart is her warmth. She meets families exactly where they are, helping them find more connection, communication, and joy in the everyday moments.

Amy offers parent coaching, developmental therapy, and connection-based behavioral support — both in-person and virtually.

Talk therapy has its place. But some things aren’t stored as a story, they’re stored in the body.

That’s where EMDR comes in.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing helps the brain reprocess memories that got “stuck,” the ones that still spike your heart rate or tighten your chest even years later, even after you’ve talked about it a hundred times.

It’s not about reliving the moment. It’s about helping your nervous system finally file it away.

If you’ve done the talking and still feel stuck, this might be the missing piece.

Our clinicians are trained in EMDR and ready to help you move through it, not just around it.

What is EMDR, and could it help you?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It’s an evidence based therapy approach designed to help the brain process distressing memories and experiences so they carry less emotional weight in daily life.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, often guided eye movements, to help your brain reprocess difficult memories. The goal isn’t to erase what happened, but to help you feel more grounded, resolved, and less triggered by it moving forward.

At Purposeful Growth & Wellness, Morgan Castrigano, LPCC, is trained in EMDR through EMDRIA and works with clients navigating anxiety, trauma, OCD, and adult ADHD. She takes an empathetic, down to earth approach, helping clients build insight and resilience while also supporting nervous system regulation along the way.

If you’ve been carrying something that talk therapy alone hasn’t fully resolved, EMDR may be worth exploring.

Book a free 15 minute consultation with Morgan to see if this approach is the right fit for you. Link in bio to get started.

Does your kiddo light up around one friend but freeze up in a group? That’s more common than you’d think, and it’s exactly what our Connection Groups are here to help with.

These groups give kids a low-pressure space to practice the everyday stuff of friendship: starting a conversation, joining in, taking turns talking, reading the room. Ages 6-9 are a great fit, and we also offer groups for older kids too.

Groups run at different times throughout the year, so the best next step is to check our website or give the office a call to find out when the next one starts.

Because social skills, just like anything else, get stronger with practice. 🌱

Back to school transitions can stir up anxiety for kids, and honestly, for the parents watching them go through it too.

This week our team got to talking about ways to help ease that shift, and Abby Schultz, DT (Developmental Therapist & Director of the Neurodivergence Discovery Clinic at PGW), shared such a simple but powerful idea: have your child create their own social story about their first day back.

Giving kids a way to picture what’s coming, through drawing, pictures and visuals, helps turn the unknown into something familiar and a little less scary. It’s such a small exercise, but it can genuinely change how ready they feel walking through that door.

We loved this idea so much that we made a free printable version for you to try at home. đź’›

Part two of our back to school series. 🍎

Abby is back with Sarah talking about what “being ready” for the first day really means, and it starts with releasing the idea that it has to be perfect.

Her advice: wake kids up earlier than you think you need to. Extra time in the morning means less rushing, and a nourishing breakfast gives their body and brain what they need to actually be present for the day ahead.

Sarah shares something a lot of parents will relate to, that her neurodivergent children often need more time for changes like this to settle in. Abby confirms this isn’t just parenting instinct, it’s backed by the science of how neurodivergent brains process transitions. Understanding that (and giving grace around it) makes all the difference.

If your child could use extra support heading into this school year, Abby is offering consults at Purposeful Growth & Wellness.
