✨ Clarifying Halal Standards: Is Simply Saying "Bismillah" Enough? ✨

There is a common misconception that simply saying "Bismillah" over non-Halal certified meat makes it permissible to eat. Here is the reality:

🥩 Sharia Slaughter Requirements: Meat is not permissible unless it is known or overwhelmingly verified that the animal was slaughtered in accordance with Islamic law (Sharia). Saying "Bismillah" at the time of eating does not replace proper Halal slaughter.

📜 Understanding Meat from the People of the Book: While the consumption of meat from the People of the Book is addressed in Islamic law, modern commercial slaughter practices often do not align with Sharia requirements.

⚠️ Modern Slaughter Methods: In many American and European slaughterhouses, methods like the penetrative captive bolt stun are commonly used for beef, which renders the animal brain-dead instantaneously before slaughter.

Additionally, the techniques used to make the cuts often do not fulfill Sharia guidelines.

At Islamic Services of America (ISA), we ensure that Halal-certified products meet strict standards so you can dine with complete peace of mind. Always look for reliable Halal certification! Visit us at www.isahalal.com🌙✨

Blood acts as the ultimate bacterial fuel—warm, protein-packed, and full of glucose—allowing dangerous bacteria to multiply rapidly and spoil meat. Halal slaughter addresses this by using a swift cut to key vessels while keeping the heart beating to actively pump blood out of the body. Modern food science validates that this thorough bleeding enhances microbial stability and prevents spoilage, proving the safety of practices mandated in the 7th century.

This year, ISA's retired former Vice President, Timothy Hyatt, represented the Halal industry during USDA ATAC (Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee) meetings in Washington DC.
