🌍 ISA's Visit to Washington, D.C.

This year, ISA's retired former Vice President, Timothy Hyatt, represented the Halal industry during USDA ATAC (Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee) meetings in Washington DC. Following the USDA plenary meeting in late April, he also met USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, USDA Deputy Undersecretary Luke Lindberg and USTR Ambassador Jamieson Greer to thank them for their international export trade efforts. In line with these meetings, he also paid a successful courtesy visit to the Embassy of Malaysia on behalf of Islamic Services of America (ISA).

🤔 Did you know?

🐖Eating pork is prohibited in major Abrahamic religions like Judaism, Islam, and some Christian traditions. These dietary rules are rooted in religious teachings and have guided communities for thousands of years! Moreover, from a scientific standpoint, undercooked or contaminated pork can transmit parasitic infections such as Trichinellosis and Taeniasis.

The Humane Slaughter Act of 1958 is an important part of the history of U.S. animal-welfare law. From a Halal perspective, humane treatment of animals is always a core principle of Islamic faith: animals should be handled with care, protected from unnecessary suffering, and slaughtered according to religious requirements.

The Halal logo is only as trustworthy, as the organization behind it. Just a generic 'Halal' logo on a product packaging does not mean anything - unless it has been properly verified and audited by a renowned certification agency.
