A regular offering that unites art and design throughout time in a robust presentation from a host of esteemed sources, this series features fine and decorative arts, sculpture, and pottery, along with lighting, silver, glass, textiles, period furniture, and more. This early and rare server design is only documented as a room sketch reproduced in 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘞𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 and is considered one of Gustav Stickley’s most experimental and distinctive creations. While the sketch depicts flush tenons and a V-shaped apron, the finished piece features exposed tenons, a straighter apron, monumental slab sides, and suspended drawers with exposed dovetail joinery. A similar example is held in the Crab Tree Farm collection, Lake Bluff, Illinois.

More than a chair, this is a piece of Frank Lloyd Wright’s final Usonian vision.

Designed for the Paul J. and Ida Trier House in Johnston, Iowa, one of Wright’s most celebrated late-career residences, this chair reflects his belief that architecture, furnishings, and landscape should exist as a unified whole. Commissioned directly by the Triers and developed in close collaboration with Wright, the home was conceived as a complete work of art, where every detail served a purpose.

Its distinctive geometric silhouette echoes the perforated light-screen panels that became a defining motif throughout the house, while the warm mahogany construction embodies the simplicity, craftsmanship, and organic design principles at the heart of Wright’s Usonian philosophy.
