A gorgeous expression of California’s Arts & Crafts movement, this patinated copper vase was made by Fred Brosi for Ye Olde Copper Shoppe in San Francisco, circa 1917–1922. Its sculptural eucalyptus branch transforms a familiar California botanical into a beautiful piece of hand-wrought metalwork.

Brosi’s work captures the Arts & Crafts belief that beauty could be found in the handmade—the character of the material, the individuality of the maker, and the connection between nature and design. The vase is marked “Hand Wrot by Fred Brosi / Ye Olde Copper Shoppe / San Francisco.”

Gustave Baumann’s Cholla and Sahuaro (Saguaro) transforms the Southwestern landscape into a study of shape, color, and light.

With bold, simplified forms and richly saturated hues, Baumann captures the prickly character of the desert while giving the towering saguaro and sprawling cholla a graphic presence. 🌞

This is jewelry that tells the story of an entire era 🖤✨

Spanning nearly seven decades, the Victorian era produced some of the most distinctive and expressive jewelry ever made. From romantic 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀, 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀, and sentimental motifs of the early years to elaborate historical revivals and the dark beauty of 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗿𝘆, Victorian jewelry reflected the passions, traditions, and changing tastes of the age.

Queen Victoria herself helped shape the jewelry of her time. Her marriage to Prince Albert inspired romantic bridal traditions, while Albert’s death in 1861 ushered in an era of mourning jewelry and more somber styles.

Nearly two centuries later, these pieces remain captivating, not just for their craftsmanship and beauty, but for the stories they carry about love, loss, and the people who wore them.

Discover a wonderful selection of Victorian jewelry in 𝗝𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗿𝘆: 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼, coming to auction September 9.
