Building on the history of Bakersfield-based country legends like Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, Front Porch Music operated for nearly 50 years and became home to Niesen’s own collection of rare and vintage guitars. Each of these rare models was made in Bakersfield and has never left, until now—when they are proudly offered to future generations of musicians and music-lovers.

This sale has been conducted in partnership with guitar expert Adam Tober, whose deep knowledge and expertise have been instrumental in bringing this exceptional collection to auction.

Maria Martins’ 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 (1946), sold for $3,170,000—shattering the artist’s previous world auction record and announcing her rightful place among the great sculptors of the twentieth century.

Brazilian-born sculptor Maria Martins became one of the defining voices of 1940s Surrealism, blending Amazonian mythology with biomorphic, hybrid forms. Created in 1946 during her celebrated New York period, 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 stands among her most iconic bronzes—an expressive, sensual work shaped by transformation, desire, and imagination. Believed to be the earliest of just three known examples, the sculpture remains a landmark of Surrealist art.
