CAN teamed up with the Art Hang podcast for a video series spotlighting local artists, their creative process, and the people behind the work. In the first episode of the series, host John Lanzador sits down to chat with local artist Chaske Haverkos. ⁠

Chaske shares the magic of the first light projection mapping he saw in the city and how it inspired him to get involved in BLINK. The two also talk about the importance of putting yourself and your creative work out there, making art that explores your own sense of curiosity and fun, and how critical it is to stay attuned to your own creative intuition. Essentially, the world needs what you already want to put out there!

CAN's featured artist this month is Liv Cassinelli, who makes her solo BLINK debut for this year's celebration! Liv brings 15 years of experience with local arts nonprofits to her project, having worked with 1001 Colors and Black Art Speaks.

We asked Liv how she got involved with BLINK this year and she shared "After animating part of a projection-mapping project for BLINK 2022 and assisting in a mural project for BLINK 2024, I wanted to try my hand at my own piece. As a Cincinnati native and DAAP Design Grad, BLINK has always been one of my favorite things about our city!"

We also asked Liv what she's most excited about in being part of BLINK this year. She says "I'm honored to help bring some fun and whimsy to my community, on such a large-scale canvas no less! This project has given me an opportunity to express myself a bit more than usual, exploring my aesthetics and reflecting on my journey as an artist."

The world's a stage and Cincinnati creatives are the stars during BLINK. Check out some of your favorites from previous celebrations and get excited about what CAN artists are making for you this year!
