During our recent trip to the Michigan Vendor Summit, our 4 year old daughter, Arwen, put her sales skills to use.
On one evening of the event, we had a river boat sunset dinner cruise, which she was ecstatic about! She loved playing on the back of the boat with her friend, watching the waves, feeling the wind, and running around.
At one point, the CEO of Sales Strategies LLC approached the back of the boat wanting to see the edge as well. When Arwen saw him coming, she put her arms out wide and grabbed onto two of the supporting roof poles to block him.
He asked kindly, "Can I pass?" She looked at him with a tilted head, then poked out her hip, smiled, held her hand out and said "Money!"
We immediately chuckled and I asked her to let him pass, but he proceeded to pull out his wallet and hand her a $10 bill. "That's not necessary at all" I kept saying. But his response was "She's got some sales skills. You just have to ask!"
He's the sales professional, after all!
She held onto that $10 all night long and was so proud of herself. I was quite proud of her too, and proceeded to tell everyone the story.
I guess we are starting her young!
That's the power of your voice.
