Help us welcome Dan Lord to the team as PSC’s new director of environment and natural resources and Great Lakes Fishery Trust manager! Dan comes to PSC after a long career at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, most recently serving as the division chief for the Finance and Operations Division.

At PSC he’ll use his policy, planning and strategic budgeting expertise to work alongside our clients and partners to develop actionable, evidence-based policy solutions for Michigan’s environment, infrastructure and natural resources. He begins his role at the end of June, and we’re looking forward to the continued impact his work will have on communities across the state.

Last night we welcomed clients and friends to our Detroit office for the first time! It was great catching up, comparing notes on what’s ahead at the Mackinac Policy Conference, and sipping on Pink Pony cocktails. While we’ve had a presence in Detroit for a long time, having an office there allows us to better serve our clients and be part of the important work happening there.

Michigan is projected to see a population decline of 2% by 2050 while the tri-county region of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties is expected to grow. Although those growth numbers are coming out positive for the region, the bigger picture tells a more complex story. With an aging population and a workforce in decline, how the region moves forward will determine not just its economic future, but the quality of life for everyone who calls it home. We dug into the demographic trends shaping the area’s future as part of our work with LEAP , and just as importantly, we conducted four community conversations to hear directly from residents before making recommendations for future development.

The Great Lakes Fishery Trust is looking for a director who will lead on strategy, grantmaking, and operations while serving as the primary liaison between PSC and GLFT stakeholders. Since its creation, the Trust has awarded over $90 million in grants to support fisheries damaged by the Ludington Pumped Storage Plant. Every grant is a ripple spreading out to restore habitats, protect species, and sustain the waters Michiganders call home. This role is perfect for an experienced leader who wants more than a job title. You'll engage directly with board leadership, scientific experts, and policymakers, and you'll help decide where resources flow to do the most good.
