We kicked off our annual summer team outing with brunch at our Detroit office, then made our way to Comerica Park for a Tigers game.

We spend a lot of time researching and thinking about how our work can deliver enduring outcomes for Michigan communities. Every once in a while, it’s nice to step back from that work and enjoy being part of one, whether that’s a ballpark, a brunch table, or the cities and neighborhoods we call home.

"The challenge isn't choosing between economic opportunity and strong community protections, it's ensuring we achieve both."

That's Michigan Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Jim Holcomb, responding to Gov. Whitmer's newly announced Michigan Affordable and Responsible Growth Action Plan. Many elements of her new policy framework, including protecting ratepayers and our natural resources, improving transparency and reinforcing Michigan’s existing safeguards, align with recommendations from our economic impact and policy report on data center development.

Practical policy solutions that improve lives and get results is the type of research and analysis our clients keep coming back for, and this one is already incorporated into a new action plan.

PSCers were back along the Grand River partnering with Michigan Waterways Stewards to clean up the east riverbank from Rotary Park toward the Brenke Fish Ladder. We soaked in the sun while on litter patrol and trimmed trees and bushes to improve sightlines along the Lansing River Trail.

We work with clients to drive innovative, data-backed strategies to protect Michigan’s environment and steward its natural resources, so it’s nice to step outside once in a while and get our get our hands dirty caring for the waterways and green spaces in our own backyard.

Big thanks to Michigan Waterways Stewards for having us for a second year in a row, and for the incredible work they do year-round.

Last night we welcomed clients and friends to our Detroit office for the first time! It was great catching up, comparing notes on what’s ahead at the Mackinac Policy Conference, and sipping on Pink Pony cocktails. While we’ve had a presence in Detroit for a long time, having an office there allows us to better serve our clients and be part of the important work happening there.
