Many people want to grow.

Yet something quietly gets in the way.

Sometimes we assume growth will happen automatically.
Sometimes we feel like we don’t know how to grow.
Sometimes we wait for the “right time.”

And sometimes we hesitate because we fear mistakes, comparison, or starting before everything is perfect.

In 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, these barriers are called Growth Gap Traps. They include gaps such as the Assumption Gap, Knowledge Gap, Timing Gap, Mistake Gap, Perfection Gap, Inspiration Gap, Comparison Gap, and Expectation Gap.

These gaps quietly hold people back from becoming the person they could become.

At this Lunch & Learn, we’ll talk about how to recognize these gaps and start closing them so growth becomes intentional instead of accidental.

If you’ve ever felt stuck between where you are and where you want to be, this conversation is for you.

Twenty years ago I was a plant manager who thought being decisive meant answering fast.

One morning an employee named John walked up with a question about a load of white cement. I cut him off before he finished. Turns out he wasn't asking what I thought he was asking, and that load went into the wrong silo.

Five seconds of listening would have saved a week of cleanup.

I've spent the years since then in plants, in cooperatives, and in family businesses, watching good leaders make that same trade over and over — speed for accuracy, on decisions that deserved better.

So I wrote a book about it.

Before You Decide is out on Amazon today. It's built around something every manufacturing person already knows: the cord on the plant floor that any operator can pull to stop the line. We treat that cord as sacred. Then we walk upstairs and make decisions about people and money without pulling anything.

Seven checks. Under two minutes. That's the whole idea.

If you've ever wished you'd waited thirty seconds before you answered, this one's for you.

And if you read it — a review helps more than you'd think.

The cord on your plant floor is sacred. Why don't you pull it on yourself?

Every leader faces difficult moments.

Setbacks.
Pressure.
Unexpected challenges.

The difference between average and exceptional leadership often comes down to how those moments are handled.

In this Lunch & Learn, we’ll explore how difficult experiences can become powerful leadership lessons.

Because the hard moments often produce the greatest growth.

Growth and comfort rarely live in the same place.

To reach your potential, you must stretch beyond where you are today.

That tension between where you are and where you could be is where growth happens.

At our upcoming Lunch & Learn, we’ll talk about how stepping outside your comfort zone leads to new capacity and new opportunities.

What are you waiting for?

You already know who it is — the person you're avoiding, the conversation you keep pushing to "next week." Ignoring it doesn't fix it. It just costs you longer.

Wouldn't you rather learn how to actually work with them than keep tiptoeing around it?

7-week mastermind, starting Tuesday, August 18. Tuesdays, 8–9 AM ET. $200 for all 7 sessions.

Every family business has a next chapter. Not every family business plans one.
I’ve sat at a lot of these tables. The founder is 68 and hasn’t said out loud who’s taking over. Two of the four kids work in the business and two don’t, and nobody has decided what fair looks like. The company grew past the structure that got it here, so decisions still route through one person who’s tired. Everybody senses it. Nobody wants to be the one who brings it up.

That conversation is hard because three different things are tangled together
— family, ownership, and business — and most families try to have all three at once, usually at Thanksgiving.

Our work is untangling them.

Transition and succession planning. Who leads next, on what timeline, with what preparation. Not a name in a will — an actual plan with dates and development built in.

Strategic planning for growth. Where the business is going in the next three to five years, and whether the current structure can carry it there.

Structural assessment tools. This is the part people are surprised by. We have instruments that measure how your business is actually built — governance, role clarity, decision rights, team gaps — and show you where it’s load-bearing and where it’s held together with good intentions and long tenure. You get findings, not opinions.

The families that do this well aren’t the ones without conflict. They’re the ones who decided to have the hard conversation on their own terms, with a neutral third party in the room, before circumstances forced it.

If your business is heading into a transition — or growing faster than its structure — let’s talk.
