โœ‹ Raise your hand if you have a tendency to catastrophize and get stuck worrying about or imagining the worst possible outcome.

If so, welcome to being human! ๐Ÿคช

But we don't have to take the bait our brain is dangling before us.

It's Thought-Provoking Thursday and time for another Rosie-in-my-Pocket...

Many times what gets in our way stems from our unconscious faulty programming - where our brains are doing their job to try to keep us safe.

And, although logically we may know something isn't likely or isn't true, it's not usually enough to overpower the emotional doom our brains imagine.

โžก๏ธ We become hijacked by emotions as we feel the dread of what we imagine could happen.

โžก๏ธ We get stuck in anxious, reactionary behaviors loaded with self-protective armor.

But when we actually name and write out our assumptions and narratives, their power lessens. One practice that can help move us from catastrophizing and dread to one of thoughtful analysis and choice is what Shawn Achor writes about in his new book, "The Power of Belief" - the Disaster Elevator.

Are you tired?

Not the โ€œI need a long weekendโ€ kind of tired.

The deeper kind of tired that comes from absorbing constant change, carrying too much, managing uncertainty, supporting everyone else, and still trying to show up like everything is fine.

And maybe what so many people need to hear right now is this:

You are not behind.
You are not failing.
You are not weak because this feels heavy.

You are human.

And humans were not designed to carry endless disruption without pause, connection, support, and recovery.

Yes, the work matters.
The goals matter.
The people matter.

And so do you.

Future-ready leadership is not about pushing harder until you break. It is about learning to pause long enough to notice what is happening inside you, reconnect with who you want to be, and choose how you want to show up.

Because when we donโ€™t pause, our self-protective wiring takes over. We react. We armor up. We over-function. We disconnect. We slip into survival mode when what is needed most is courage, clarity, and humanity.

So today, before the next hard thing, give yourself permission to take one honest breath.

That breath may not solve everything.

But it can help you return to yourself before you lead others.

๐Ÿ‘‰ How often do you have a worry or thought that people are judging you? And when that narrative emerges, how does it influence how you show up?

Lately, I've had many conversations with leaders who are carrying a narrative and assumption that people are judging them. When this surfaces, it leads to:

โŒ Performing rather than being authentic

โŒ Perfectionistic tendencies rather than connecting with others

โŒ Self-protective tendencies as they try to appear to have it all together, have the answers, etc. rather than being fully present and curious

And this is especially prevalent the higher up in organizational hierarchy the leader is.

But when they reframe to realizing that people are looking to them for guidance, it makes a huge difference.
