Planted high above Sonoma Valley in 1886, Monte Rosso is one of California’s most iconic vineyard sites, celebrated for its volcanic soils, rugged elevation, and historic old vines. Sourced exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in 1940, the 2023 Monte Rosso Cabernet Sauvignon is a profound expression of this legendary site.

Aged 20 months in predominantly new French oak and produced in extremely limited quantities, this release is layered, structured, and built to evolve beautifully for years to come.

In 1886, Emmanuel Goldstein planted vines on the back of Mount Veeder. Those vines still produce fruit today.

Monte Rosso sits 1,300 feet above Napa and Sonoma in the Southern Mayacamas offering volcanic iron-rich soil, cool bay winds, and elevation that pulls a wine toward both power and precision simultaneously. It is, in the truest sense, a unicorn site.

This week we are releasing two wines from Monte Rosso: a Cabernet Sauvignon aged 20 months in 90% new French oak, and a 100% Zinfandel from those original 1886 vines.
