In the early days of Vinum Cellars Napa Valley, Chris and Richard were doing it all themselves—making the w**e, selling the w**e, loading cases into the trunks of their cars to get it into people’s hands.

Within the first 11 months, they produced and sold 960 cases, learning every possible lesson in real time. There were moments that felt equally ambitious and absurd—like strapping barrels into Chris’ 1990 Toyota pickup truck, only to get back to the w**ery and realize they didn’t even have enough barrel racks waiting for them.

That’s how Vinum Cellars started: scrappy, resourceful, and driven entirely by belief in what they were creating.
