A strong fundraising strategy begins with a healthy donor pipeline. Too often, nonprofits focus on finding more donors when the greater opportunity is cultivating the right relationships over time. From identifying qualified prospects to building meaningful engagement and long-term stewardship, every stage matters.

At Parkes Philanthropy, we have identified 6 stages of a healthy donor pipeline for nonprofit organizations who are looking to strengthen their fundraising.

An in-depth explanation of the 6 stages can be found in our Donor Pipeline Guide, a free fundraising toolkit for nonprofit organizations. This customizable guide serves as a repeatable system for nonprofit organizations to manage prospects and donors – without requiring expensive CRM.

One of the most compelling stories in philanthropy is what happens when communities lead the way.

We are inspired by our partner, Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF) the Solar and their work alongside Maasai communities in Kenya to expand access to solar-powered cooking. The initiative improves health, supports environmental sustainability, and reflects the value of building solutions with communities, not just for them.

It also highlights an important lesson for philanthropy: meaningful work deserves meaningful storytelling. Sharing the people, partnerships, and purpose behind the work builds trust and strengthens relationships with donors and supporters.

At Parkes Philanthropy, we believe strategic storytelling helps organizations deepen engagement and lasting impact.

Congratulations to the SELF team and everyone who made this initiative possible. Learn more about their work and early findings in Maasai here: https://www.self.org/blog/solar-cooking-in-the-maasai-mara-early-findings-from-the-field/

We are thrilled to be featured in Simone Joye’s new book, Nonprofits Unfiltered: Money, Power, and the People Who Carry America’s Charities, as one of her “Consulting Firms To Know.”

The chapter offers a candid look at the evolving role of consultants in the nonprofit sector, especially as organizations navigate capacity constraints, fundraising pressure, and the need for specialized expertise.

For us, it’s a reflection of what we hear from many clients: nonprofits are navigating more complexity than ever, and the right partner makes a real difference.

Fractional support isn’t just extra help — it’s strategic capacity.

Our team loves to see more conversation around how nonprofits can unlock growth, strengthen fundraising, and build smarter without overextending their teams.

This is exactly the kind of work we’re built for at Parkes Philanthropy.

📢 Announcing Impact Icons 2026: Celebrating Black Nonprofit Leaders

As we approach Black History Month, the Parkes Philanthropy team is proud to announce the return of Impact Icons, our annual initiative honoring Black nonprofit leaders driving meaningful, community-centered change.

As a Black-owned firm partnering with underrepresented leaders every day, we know how valuable amplification and awareness can be for leaders doing the work.

With that, we’re looking to uplift and amplify the work of visionaries building our future right now. Whether you’re tackling education equity or climate justice, working locally or globally, we want to highlight leaders demonstrating that history isn’t just something we study, it’s something we’re actively creating.

Know a Black nonprofit leader redefining what’s possible in their community? Nominate them or encourage them to apply, application link in the comments. 🙌🏾
