It's officially summer! If you're headed out to Coney Island for a beach day, kick the afternoon up a notch and visit the New York Aquarium's Ocean Wonders: Sharks! Exhibit. Over the course of the evening, you can enjoy the lighting program for Ned Kahn's 1,000ft-long shimmering wall which offers a carefully curated set of scenes inspired by ocean life.

As Partner and Principal, Brett balances running the day-to-day of our firm while guiding the design and project management teams with clarity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the people around him.

Brett is the kindest guy you’ll ever meet and his leadership has shaped our practice, our culture, and countless projects over three decades. We’re honored to work alongside him and grateful for the example he sets every day.

Today we’re celebrating 25 incredible years of Focus Principal and Superwoman, Christine Heller. Christine brings a rare mix of style, clarity, and effortless cool to every project—and if you’ve been lucky enough to work with her, you already know how inspiring she is. She’s a mentor to so many—especially the young women she champions—and a leader who sets the bar high.

As a Principal, she leads three studios, chairs the Lumen Committee, and still finds time to be an amazing mom to four kids. We don’t know how she balances it all, but we’re so honored to have her at the heart of our team.

At the Royal Caribbean Cruise Terminal, the inspiration was the image of two ships passing in the night. Chosen with the Terminal’s prime audience (tens-of-thousands of daily commuters on the adjacent causeway) in mind, the terminal’s Arrival Hall and Parking Structure appear to cross paths as they drive by. In the evening, this concept comes to life with lighting that artfully showcases the building’s bold, geometric forms and subtle storytelling.
