Thank you Congressman Mark Alford for your leadership on the APLUS Act! Expanding local packing capacity is essential to supply chain resilience and domestic production. We encourage Secretary Brooke Rollins and U.S. Department of Agriculture to solve the problem APLUS would fix by eliminating an outdated regulation that prohibits livestock market owners and operators from owning or investing in a harvest facility.

We need more hamburger helper — but imports aren’t the answer. 🇺🇸

American ranchers need more places to sell.

That’s why I’ve been pushing the A-PLUS Act: level the playing field, get more independent processors online, and put our producers first. 🥩🐄

Today, the Livestock Marketing Association joined the American Farm Bureau Federation, National Cattlemen's Beef Association, and United States Cattlemen's Association in sending a joint letter to President Trump urging the Administration to reverse its proposed 90-day beef import plan and work with the cattle industry on solutions that strengthen America's food security, support producers, and keep food affordable for consumers. We've welcomed a lot of new followers recently, so we wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves.

The Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) is a trade association dedicated to the auction method of marketing livestock. Founded in 1947, LMA supports livestock marketing businesses and works with nearly 90% of livestock auctions across the United States to protect the role of competitive markets in livestock production.

Our members are livestock auctions, sometimes called stockyards or sale barns, along with livestock dealers, order buyers, online and video auction providers, auctioneers and other industry professionals who help producers market their cattle, sheep, goats, and other livestock.

At the heart of everything we do are the farmers and ranchers who trust their local livestock auctions.

These producers, especially small and mid-sized farmers and ranchers, are a big part of what keeps rural America strong. They raise the livestock that helps feed our nation, they support local economies, and they help keep our food supply independent. Local livestock auctions give them a place to find true competition, fair prices and opportunity, no matter the size of their operation.

Whether it's animal health, transportation, regulatory changes, disaster response, educational tools, business services, or advocating for policies that support rural America, LMA works to support the businesses that serve livestock producers.

If you're new here, welcome. We're glad you're part of the conversation.

🏆 The stakes couldn't be higher.

The competitor lineup is set for the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship Qualifier at Comanche Livestock Auction in Comanche, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, September 9.

These auctioneers aren't just competing for a qualifier win. They're competing for one of 10 coveted spots in the 2027 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship, where the industry's best will battle for the World Title in South Lake Tahoe and Galt, California, in June 2027.

From the opening bid to the final lot, every chant, every call, and every performance matters as competitors pursue a place on livestock marketing's biggest stage.

📺 Sale time 8:00 a.m. (Central) join us there or watch it live on the LMA YouTube channel:

Good luck to all competitors as they compete for the chance to advance and continue their journey toward a World Championship.

Sen. Deb Fischer Visits Crawford Livestock Market

Last week, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE) visited Crawford Livestock Market in Crawford, Nebraska for a discussion with auction market representatives, livestock producers, and community members about issues affecting the livestock industry and rural communities.

The discussion provided an opportunity for local stakeholders to share their experiences and concerns directly with Senator Fischer and her team. Topics included reform of the H-2A program, challenges with the rural mailing system, prompt payment, animal traceability, New World Screwworm, and Theileria.

Much of the conversation also focused on the ongoing drought conditions and recent fires impacting the Crawford area and surrounding communities. Following the meeting, Senator Fischer traveled to Fort Robinson, providing an opportunity to see firsthand some of the areas affected by these challenges.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of ensuring livestock markets and rural communities have a strong voice in policy discussions affecting their businesses, producers, and local economies.

Thank you to the customers and community members who participated in the discussion, including Mike Bannan, Lane Grote, Dave Moody, Michael Comstock, Mike Smith, Tristan Hunter, Jack and Laurel Hunter, Bruce Wohlers, Moni Hourt (Crawford Clipper), Devon Baum, Todd Eberle, and Rich and Alicia Robertson.

LMA appreciates Senator Fischer and her team for taking the time to visit Crawford Livestock Market, hearing directly from those working in the livestock industry and discussing issues important to livestock markets, producers, and rural communities.

We also appreciate Crawford Livestock Market and everyone who helped make the visit a productive opportunity for engagement and advocacy of the livestock marketing sector.
