On Friday, June 12th, our Executive Director was invited to be a part of a special workforce tour and announcement at CCAC with Senator Dave McCormick and TV Host of Dirty Jobs, Mike Rowe. Through the Mike Rowe Works Foundation $1 Million dollars has been dedicated to scholarships for Pennsylvanians looking to go into a skilled trade. The NorthsideWorks! Program will be coordinating career explorations in construction, culinary and hospitality, and vet tech careers this fall and into 2027. Stay tuned for more information!

The Northside | North Shore Chamber of Commerce was honored to participate in the Executive Convening on Workforce, Place & Competitiveness, where more than 95 executives representing 75 organizations—collectively employing approximately 350,000 people—came together to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing Pittsburgh.

The evening reinforced an important truth: a strong workforce, thriving communities, and regional competitiveness are deeply connected. Meaningful collaboration across the business, nonprofit, philanthropic, civic, and public sectors will be essential as we work to attract and retain talent, strengthen career pathways, and create vibrant places where people and businesses can thrive.
