You have one day left to honor the book you spent years writing.

Submissions for the From Pen to Prose Book Award close tomorrow, May 31.

If your title was published with Scriptor between 2017 and 2025, this is your final reminder.

A children's novel. A doorway under an oak tree. A Pen to Prose Award.

Hollows of the Oak: The Key by Stephanie Filicsky Muir is our newest winner on the shelf, proof that the door to this award opens just as wide for first-time authors as it does for seasoned ones.

The kind of story a young reader tucks under their pillow, finishes in two nights, and quietly hands to a friend.

If you've published with Scriptor between 2017 and 2025, the 2026 award is open. We can't wait to read what's next.

An award won't change your book. It will change who finds it.

A finalist badge on the cover gives a stranger a reason to pause in the bookstore aisle. A podcast episode puts your voice into a listener's morning walk. A mention in two newsletters lands in the inbox of someone who has been looking for exactly what you wrote.

That's what the From Pen to Prose Book Award is for. Not to crown you. To carry your work further than you can on your own.

Submissions close in 3 days. If your book was published with Scriptor between 2017 and 2025, we'd love to read it.

Your title is not for you. It's for the person scrolling Amazon at 11 PM.

Most authors pick a title they love, then add a subtitle that sounds professional. Then they wonder why the book isn't moving.

Here's the harsh truth about Amazon: the reader gives your book 3 seconds before deciding. If the cover and title don't promise something they care about, they keep scrolling.

The title is the hook. The subtitle does the heavy lifting in non-fiction, naming both the audience and the outcome.

"Atomic Habits" is fine on its own. But the subtitle ("An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones") is why people bought it.

Most first-time authors get this backwards. They write a clever title and a vague subtitle, then can't figure out why the book isn't ranking.

Before you publish, your title and subtitle should be tested, not just chosen.

A boy with cerebral palsy started giving speeches at age 10. 41 years later, his book wins a Pen to Prose Award.

Yes I Can! Lessons Learned from a Life Less Ordinary by Dr. Paul Wichansky is a chapter-by-chapter playbook for the moments adversity asks "why me." Each chapter is built on a principle Paul has lived: positive attitude, support, self-esteem, perseverance, resilience, empathy.

He's reached more than a million people with the work. The book carries the same warmth in print.

If you've published with Scriptor between 2017 and 2025, the 2026 award is open. The world needs more books like Paul's. Including yours.

Your book isn't a product. It's a business card you charge $25 for.

Most first-time authors price their book based on royalties. They want to know how many copies they have to sell to break even on production costs. Wrong math.

The real ROI on a non-fiction book isn't in the royalties. It's in everything that happens because you wrote one.

Speaking invitations. Inbound consulting calls. Press features. Higher fees. Warmer leads. A clearer position in your market.

Authors who get this stop optimizing for "How do I sell more copies?" and start asking "How do I get my book in front of the right 1,000 people?"

That changes the entire publishing strategy. The cover. The title. The categories. The launch plan.

If you're writing a book to grow a business, you need a publishing partner who treats the book like an asset, not just a product.

Link in bio to book a call. We'll show you what that actually looks like.

One week. That's all that stands between you and the From Pen to Prose deadline.

The form takes a few minutes. The $50 fee is the smallest investment you'll make in this book, and a finalist or winner spot brings a return that's worth far more.

If your title was published with Scriptor between 2017 and 2025 and you've been thinking about entering, this is your gentle nudge.

You wrote it. You finished it. Now let it be considered.

40 years as an attorney. 47 short chapters. One book of the lessons most business owners have to learn the hard way.

Quiet Plans, Exciting Results by David Seitter puts a career's worth of M&A and exit experience into the hands of the owners walking that road next. Stories from real businesses, practical pointers, the kind of book a reader keeps within arm's reach.

The From Pen to Prose Award honored it. The badge lives on the cover.

If you've published with Scriptor between 2017 and 2025, the 2026 award is open. Your years of work deserve the same recognition.

$250 in your hand. A podcast episode in your honor. A finalist badge on your book cover.

That's some of what waits for this year's From Pen to Prose Book Award winners.

The overall winner takes home:
✨ $250 cash
✨ A $250 credit toward our next writing retreat
✨ A podcast episode devoted to the book and the author
✨ Promotion across Scriptor and Todd Durkin Enterprises socials and newsletters
✨ A Pen to Prose Award badge for the book cover
✨ Recognition on our website

Finalists in each of the four categories receive their own badge, a $100 retreat credit, and promotion that helps new readers find them.

Visibility is the gift. Hard to build alone, and we'd love to help.

Entries close May 31.
