Fair warning: this post may make you hungry. 🍝

Meals at the Locanda are Umbrian and Tuscan cooking made with fresh ingredients, many of them grown right on the property. On Monday we'll roll up our sleeves for a cooking class in the villa kitchen. On Tuesday we head into Orvieto for the cathedral, a gelato tutorial (yes, really), and a w**e tasting. Wednesday brings a w**ery tour in the village of Monterubiaglio.

Let's take a little tour, shall we? Locanda della Quercia Calante is a 14th-century farmhouse tucked into the green hills of Umbria, about halfway between Rome and Florence.

Your room has terracotta floors, wooden ceiling beams, stone walls, and your own private bathroom. Many open right onto a porch with views of the countryside. Out back you'll find gardens, old shade trees, and three connected spring-water pools set in volcanic rock. Dinner is often served outside under the arbor.
