Your quality team spends most of their week playing goalie.
Blocking shots. Sorting bad parts. Chasing the same problems the system keeps producing.
And they're good at it. That's the sad part.
Because catching defects was never supposed to be the job.
The real work happens before the first part runs. Control plan, FMEA, inspection plan, argued out and aligned while there's still time to prevent the failure instead of finding it.
Most quality people know this. They just never get the hours or the directive to do it.
The calendar fills with inspection and firefighting, and the planning that would stop the fires keeps sliding.
This is where AI earns its spot. Drafting the control plan from the drawing, pulling the paperwork together, the routine load that eats a week. The tool carries that now.
What it can't do is tell you whether a fix is truly systematic or just reads clean on the form. That call still needs someone who's stared at enough of these.
Give the team the time back and the mandate to use it upstream.
They stop guarding the net. They start designing the game so the shots never come.
If your next job needs PPAP prep before parts run, Ledge helps get it done.
