QUICK TIPS for Fundraising Help from your Board of Directors:

Hold an interview session with your board members about their personal reasons for serving on your board. Use them in different content — social media, direct mail, and as talking points when engaging with potential donors.

Have board members can handwrite thank you notes to donors with their personal angle of why their donation is so critical. You can also provide idea starters and even sample language to guide them.

Teach your board members how to brag about your organization’s achievements. Their testimonials can boost those achievements as authentic third-party messages.

Request that your board reposts key social media content you develop with their personal commentary.

Host an event in board member's homes for their select guests with a program staff member as your representative.

Ask a few of your board members to join you and a group of local leaders at a breakfast roundtable to discuss issues your nonprofit addresses.

Add an agenda item at your next board meeting for ideas and practices they've seen from other nonprofits. This could be a great opportunity to discuss your nonprofit’s limitations and infrastructure needs.

In the nonprofit world, many organizations operate as though social needs, donor behaviors and funding models are static. They build a single strategy and cling to it.
