One of our most-requested, purchased, and overhauled components is the Slick 4370 magneto.

It’s part of Champion’s 4300 series, which was developed as a direct replacement for the earlier 4200 series, featuring an updated case design and bearing improvements.

Compared to older mag designs, the 4300 series is smaller, lighter, and more durable, with lift-off housing that makes it easier to inspect the unit without affecting internal timing.

We often recommend the Slick 4370 to customers because it’s less complex and has fewer internal parts than legacy mags, which means maintenance is simpler and the whole component is more reliable.

Need a starter generator fast? It helps to know the difference between an overhaul and an exchange.

An overhaul is the right fit when you want your existing unit returned to service after inspection, repair, replacement of worn components, and testing. It’s a good value if you’re not in an AOG situation.

An exchange is the better option when your biggest priority is speed. Instead of waiting for your unit to move through the full process, you receive a serviceable replacement unit right away.

Both options have their place. It usually comes down to schedule, budget, and availability.
