Do you want to protect your parents, or protect their assets?

If my parents needed long-term care tomorrow, these are the first 3 moves I'd make 👇

Advanced directives (today). While your parent still has capacity, a power of attorney and a healthcare surrogate keep you out of guardianship court. (That process is slow and expensive.)

Insurance clarity. Figure out their coverages. Don't assume they're covered.

Don't move money. No panic transfers, AND no gifting. Not before you talk to an elder law attorney.

These 3 aren't everything. But they're the foundation that separates the families who weather this well from the ones who absorb damage they never had to.
