You asked, and we listened.

FTF is thrilled to finally offer a virtual option for our popular PFA-SBT training! For everyone who's wanted to attend but couldn't make it work in person, now's your chance: registration is officially open for our live virtual 3-day PFA-SBT workshop.
Join us Thursday, January 21 and Friday, January 22 for two full days covering our most up-to-date version of PFA-SBT. We’ll cover PFA and the early steps of SBT on January 21 & 22, then come back one month later on Thursday, February 25 for a follow-up session on the later steps; giving you time in between to start putting it into practice.

Expect the same interactive lectures and breakout sessions you'd get in person, with guided, hands-on planning built in throughout. There will be small group opportunities to ask questions and receive feedback as you design PFA and SBT for one of your own students/clients.

What if a child had a place built just for them?

That's the program Dr. Kara LaCroix and Dr. Cory Whelan built at Seasons Behavioral Services for kids with severe behavior who've cycled through waitlist after waitlist. Using Practical Functional Assessment and Skill-Based Treatment, they're helping kids build a real path back to where they're meant to be.

Dr. Dithu Rajaraman sits down with them to break down how it works.

Last week, Dr. Adithyan "Dithu" Rajaraman led a 2-day Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skill-Based Treatment (SBT) workshop with the West Virginia Department of Education - and between trainings, he took a moment to share some reflections on the experience.

Over 250 school-based professionals came together for two days, all part of one state department of education's investment in evidence-based care for students with severe behavior.

The workshop brought together BCBAs, teachers, school psychologists, paraprofessionals, and administrators to build competency in PFA/SBT, equipping school teams with practical, evidence-based tools to support students with severe problem behavior.

We're proud to support this kind of large-scale, systems-level investment in student outcomes!

If you're implementing Skill-Based Treatment in a school setting, you already know the moments that trip people up: knowing how to respond to dangerous vs. non-dangerous behavior and knowing how to identify an assent-withdrawal.

Our new on-demand course, Skill-Based Treatment: A Stepwise Guide for School Implementers, is a practical, step-by-step training for implementers and paraprofessionals. Whether you're new to SBT or want the most current implementation guidance available, this course will offer you the guidance you need to run a successful session. It covers tips on how to prepare for your session, how to respond to problem behavior and set boundaries, recommendations on how to shape each step in SBT, and how to know when to reach out for help. It also includes downloadable checklists for running an SBT session and collecting data.

$80 · 4.5 hours, self-paced.

This course is designed for anyone running SBT sessions under the guidance of a supervisor or BCBA who has already completed the Practical Functional Assessment (PFA). The focus of this course is on SBT implementation. It does not cover the PFA or case conceptualization.
