Great wines, magnificent vines. Few places on earth offer such a spectacular outlook. Nestled atop Tygerberg Hill, De Grendel showcases Table Mountain, the city and the seaboard all in one landscape. Just 20 minutes from the city, you will be greeted by a dramatic expanse of land that is home to our vineyards, carefully crafted by Winemaker's Guild member Charles Hopkins, producing prestigious win

es of consistently exceptional quality. One of Cape Town’s oldest farms, De Grendel has a magnificent centuries-old history within the Graaff family. Perfectly situated on high, sea-facing slopes overlooking unmatched vistas of Cape Town, it is the only vineyard in the country that is 350m above sea level and only seven kilometres from the sea. This elevated position is not only majestic, but also forms an integral part of the micro-climate that shapes our elegant wines. Our vines benefit from the south-facing aspects and the close moderating effects of the ocean – advantages that are the product of the site. In our viticulture and wine-making, our goal is the expression of the character of this distinctive position.

Candlelight, something delicious on the table, and a generous glass of Merlot 🍷

With its generous fruit and smooth, rounded character, De Grendel Merlot has been a favourite for many years. With layers of dark fruit and spice, it is equally at home at the dinner table or simply enjoyed by the glass.

A wine to pour, share and enjoy in good company.

Happy National Merlot Day from De Grendel.

🌸 Spring Pavlova with Stone Fruit & De Grendel Cap Classique Brut 🥂

A little something to celebrate the first day of Spring.

Crisp pavlova, vanilla Chantilly and fresh stone fruit, finished with a vibrant coulis made with De Grendel Cap Classique Brut. Simple to prepare, beautiful on the table and even better enjoyed with a chilled glass of Cap Classique.

Save the recipe for your next Spring occasion. 👇

TO SERVE
• Ready-made individual pavlovas
• Fresh stone fruit, finely diced
• Edible flowers, optional

CAP CLASSIQUE & STONE FRUIT COULIS
• 250 g stone fruit, such as peaches or nectarines
• 100 ml De Grendel Cap Classique Brut
• 30 g sugar
• 15 ml lemon juice

Place the stone fruit, sugar, Cap Classique and lemon juice in a saucepan. Cook over low to medium heat for 3–5 minutes, until the fruit has softened slightly. Remove from the heat, blend until smooth and set aside to cool completely.

VANILLA CHANTILLY
• 250 ml fresh cream
• 25 g icing sugar, sifted
• 5 g vanilla bean paste or vanilla essence

Place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and whip until soft to medium peaks form. Transfer to a piping bag or keep in a clean bowl and refrigerate until needed.

TO ASSEMBLE
Fill each pavlova with a generous spoonful of vanilla Chantilly. Spoon over the Cap Classique and stone fruit coulis, then garnish with freshly diced stone fruit and, if desired, a few edible flowers for a final touch of Spring.

Serve immediately with a chilled glass of De Grendel Cap Classique Brut. 🥂

Shiraz has a remarkable way of telling you where it comes from 🍷

Across the Coastal Region, it gives us the generous dark fruit, pepper and spice of De Grendel Shiraz.

Almost 1,000 metres above sea level in the Ceres Plateau, it becomes the elegant, herbaceous and beautifully spiced Op Die Berg Syrah.

And in the cool maritime landscape of Elim, it reveals a distinctive peppery character alongside lavender, violet and rosemary.

One variety, shaped by three very different places.

To mark National Shiraz Day, enjoy 10% off our Shiraz & Syrah collection online at www.degrendel.co.za until Friday, 28 August, including De Grendel Shiraz, Elim Shiraz, Op Die Berg Syrah and available Vintage Shiraz/Syrah wines.

A Pinot Noir shaped by altitude 🍷 🏔️

This International Pinot Noir Day, we’re heading high into the mountains to celebrate our Op Die Berg Pinot Noir.

Far from our home vineyards in Durbanville, the grapes for this wine are grown on the Ceres Plateau, around 1,000 metres above sea level. Here, snowy winters, warm summer days and cool nights create an extraordinary environment for Pinot Noir, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly while retaining their natural freshness and acidity.

The result is a Pinot Noir that speaks distinctly of its mountain origins: elegant and refined, with vibrant red fruit, beautiful freshness and a lingering, savoury finish.

A wine born from our pursuit of exceptional vineyard sites.

Happy International Pinot Noir Day 🍷
