What makes the Rooiberg area so special? 🌿

Nestled between the Langeberg Mountains and the Breede River, the Rooiberg area is home to incredible biodiversity and an amazing variety of wildlife.

The Rooiberg Breede River Conservancy protects an important part of this natural landscape, with wildlife ranging from threatened species such as the Cape leopard to freshwater species like the Breede Redfin Minnow. 🐆🐟

And this is why conservation matters to us at Rooiberg Winery.

Through our Feel Good. Made to Share initiative, R3 from every bottle sold from our Game Reserve range goes towards the Rooiberg Breede River Conservancy, helping support the protection of this special landscape and the wildlife that calls it home.

Because enjoying what comes from this valley also means helping look after the valley we call home. 💚

National Shiraz Day | 🍇

21 August is National Shiraz Day — a day dedicated to celebrating one of South Africa’s most distinctive red wine cultivars.

But did you know Shiraz hasn’t always been known as Shiraz?

Also known as Syrah, the cultivar traces its roots to France’s Rhône Valley. It made its way to South Africa in the late 1800s, and over the years found a place of its own in our vineyards and wine culture.

Today, South African Shiraz is celebrated for its character, diversity and ability to express the place where it is grown.

So this National Shiraz Day, we raise a glass to the cultivar that has travelled far, found a home in South African soil, and continues to tell its story in every vintage.

Here’s to Shiraz — proudly South African in spirit. 🍷

Our 2023 Rooiberg Winery Shiraz Reserve has been recognised as one of the Top 12 Shiraz wines in the 2026 Shiraz SA Challenge.

The Shiraz SA Challenge is a respected annual competition celebrating the very best Shiraz and Shiraz-based wines from across South Africa.

Our 2023 Shiraz Reserve is a flagship of the Rooiberg Reserve Selection. 100% Shiraz, full-bodied wine with rich, concentrated spicy and black-pepper flavours, complemented by French oak and a lingering finish.

This recognition is a wonderful reflection of the dedication and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle at Rooiberg.
