Did you know? 🤔

The Research & Development Tax Incentive (RDTI) is a government program designed to fuel and support innovation across Australia.💡

It enables Aussie businesses to claim a portion of their eligible R&D expenditure. Although there’s no fixed average, many businesses can receive substantial benefits based on their qualifying R&D activities.

Curious if your business qualifies? There’s a range of qualifying expenditures including equipment, wages, materials and others.

Accountants don't need to do everything.

Your clients trust you for tax, compliance and strategic advice. But when it comes to the R&D Tax Incentive, grants and government funding, many firms simply don't have the time or specialist resources to manage the process in-house.

That's exactly why we created the FundFindrs Business Partner Program.

✅ Deliver more value to your clients
✅ Strengthen client relationships
✅ No need to build internal R&D or grants capability
✅ No application preparation or claim management
✅ Continue focusing on your core accounting and advisory services

Simply introduce eligible clients and we'll take care of the funding review, eligibility assessment and application process. Your client may even receive $1,000 towards their accounting fees.*

More Value. No Extra Work.

What happens when 600+ founders, investors and business leaders come together in one room?

The FundFindrs team had a great day at the S2S Summit yesterday. A big thank you to the Tank Stream Labs team for having us as sponsors and for putting together such a fantastic event at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art.

Our Founder, Nicola Mills, was a panellist on the Alternative Funding Options for Businesses session alongside Kristen Pelletier (Westpac), Jodie Imam (Tractor Ventures), Kristin Hunter (Birchal) and Bradley Delamare (Tank Stream Labs).

The discussion explored grants, the R&D Tax Incentive, debt funding, crowdfunding, business loans and investment, with one key message standing out:

Different funding options serve different purposes. The real question isn't where to get funding, but what you're funding, where your business is in its journey, and which mix of funding options best supports your goals.

Some key takeaways:
✅ Know your numbers before seeking funding.
✅ Build relationships with funders early.
✅ Cash flow matters.
✅ Community can be a powerful asset, particularly for crowdfunding.

One insight that particularly resonated with us was that many founders still aren't aware of grants and the R&D Tax Incentive. For eligible businesses, these programs can provide valuable support for innovation, growth and cash flow.

Beyond funding, the summit also highlighted the importance of community, authenticity and human connection. AI was another major topic, but the message was clear: while AI can help more people get to "good" faster, creativity, strategy and human insight remain the differentiators.

It was fantastic to connect with so many founders, hear their stories and answer questions throughout the day.

EMDG could be changing. The businesses that prepare now may be best placed when the next round opens.

The recently released Independent Review of the Export Market Development Grant (EMDG) program made 29 recommendations aimed at improving accessibility, effectiveness and administration. These recommendations have not yet been adopted, but they provide a strong indication of where the program may be heading. Key proposed changes include:

✅ Moving away from the "first-in, first-served" application model
✅ Introducing a merit-based assessment process
✅ Returning to annual grant rounds and annual grant agreements
✅ Simplifying the current three-tier structure into two tiers
✅ Reviewing international travel caps and per diem rates

If these recommendations are adopted, future applicants may be assessed more heavily on the quality of their export strategy, business capability and the expected impact of grant funding, rather than how quickly they can submit an application.

For exporters, the message is simple:
Now is the time to strengthen your export plan, gather supporting evidence and prepare for future opportunities.

The biggest funding mistake we see? It's not getting rejected. It's never checking.

Every year, innovative Australian businesses miss funding opportunities because they assume they're not eligible. No discussion. No assessment. No application. Just assumptions.

The reality is many businesses are doing far more innovation than they realise. A short conversation could uncover funding opportunities worth tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The cost of doing nothing is often far greater than the cost of asking.

Thinking about lodging your FY26 R&D Tax Incentive claim? Don't leave it until next year.

Submitting before the end of the calendar year can provide several advantages:
✅ Potentially access cash sooner
✅ Avoid January-March processing congestion
✅ Capture information while projects are fresh in people's minds
✅ Align R&D registration and tax lodgement activities
✅ Avoid holiday shutdown disruptions

The earlier you start, the easier the process typically becomes and the sooner you have funds back in your business to keep innovating.
