🌟 Connecting with the next generation of talent at the BlakJobs Expo 🌟

Newmont was proud to participate in this year's BlakJobs Expo in Darwin, with representatives from our Tanami operation engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to discuss careers, training opportunities, and pathways into the mining industry.

The BlakJobs Expo brings together Indigenous students, employers, training providers, and career pathways in one dynamic space, creating meaningful opportunities for young people to explore their future and connect directly with potential employers.

Throughout the day, our team spoke with students about the diverse opportunities available at Newmont, including apprenticeships, traineeships, technical careers, operational roles, and professional pathways. Just as importantly, they shared their own experiences and answered questions about what it's like to build a career in mining.

Supporting events like the BlakJobs Expo is an important part of helping young Indigenous Territorians explore future opportunities and see what's possible. We're proud to be part of the conversations that help inspire, inform, and connect the next generation of talent.

A big thank you to everyone who represented Newmont and helped showcase the rewarding career pathways available across our business. πŸ–€πŸ’›β€οΈ

β€œThe best part of my job is the team and the opportunity to learn new skills every day.”

Meet Brooke πŸ‘‹

Brooke is a Process Technician at Newmont Boddington who made a career change from hairdressing to mining, and she hasn’t looked back.

After spending seven years as a qualified hairdresser, Brooke decided to take a chance on the mining industry.

"Mining has far exceeded my expectations. Everyone has been so welcoming and willing to teach me the skills I need to succeed."

As a Process Technician, Brooke works alongside her team to maintain the dry plant and help ensure operations run safely and efficiently.

"The best part of my job is the team. I enjoy coming to work every day, learning new skills and being supported by amazing mentors."

One of the biggest benefits for Brooke is the 8:6 roster, which gives her time to recharge and enjoy life outside of work.

"I love spending time at the beach, catching up with friends and having a real break on my days off."

For anyone considering a career in mining, Brooke's advice is simple:

"Just go for it. Everyone is so welcoming, and Newmont encourages people from all backgrounds, including those with no mining experience, to give it a try. It's a fantastic opportunity."

Brooke sees a long future with Newmont.

"I love working here and genuinely look forward to coming back each swing. It's an inclusive workplace that welcomes women and people who are new to the industry."

Brooke's story highlights the opportunities available to build a rewarding career in mining, regardless of your previous experience. If you're ready to take the next step with Australia's largest gold producer, explore current opportunities at jobs.newmont.com.

"I didn't think I'd be staying in mining, but the flexibility and great people have kept me here!"

Meet Hayden πŸ‘‹

Four years ago, Hayden joined Newmont Boddington after working as a communications technician and surfing coach. While he originally saw mining as a way to achieve his goal of home ownership, he quickly discovered a career that offered much more.

Starting on the utilities clean-up crew, Hayden has since progressed into the gold recovery and sub-process area, where he now works as a Process Technician. His role involves monitoring equipment, identifying issues and helping keep operations running smoothly.

For Hayden, one of the biggest benefits of working at Boddington is the 7/7 roster, which provides the flexibility to return home to Perth, tackle renovation projects and spend time doing what he loves most, including surfing πŸ πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ.

Hayden's journey shows that a career in mining can open doors to new opportunities, personal growth and the flexibility to enjoy life outside of work.

βš«πŸŸ‘πŸ”΄ From participants to permanent team members.

When Kimi Craigie-Lucas and Wayde Van Weerdenburg joined Newmont Cadia's Ganhambarra Program in 2025, they were exploring what a career in mining could look like. Today, both are working at Cadia as Underground Mine Technicians, turning that opportunity into rewarding careers.

The Ganhambarra Program gave them hands-on experience across different parts of the operation, the chance to learn from experienced mentors, and exposure to the many career pathways available in mining.

Along the way, Kimi and Wayde also represented the program at NSW Mining's The Pitch event last year, sharing their experiences and helping showcase the opportunities available through Ganhambarra. For Kimi, presenting to a crowd of around 100 people was a challenge that pushed her out of her comfort zone and became one of the experiences she is most proud of.

If you're an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person interested in exploring a career in mining, the next intake of the Ganhambarra Program could be your opportunity.

✨ Paid 16-week program
✨ Nationally recognised training
✨ Mentoring and support throughout the journey
✨ Exposure to a range of career pathways

πŸ“… Roles commence in December 2026 and applications close Tuesday 25 August.

Independent economic analysis found that Newmont's Australian operations generated an estimated $12.1 billion in economic value in 2024/25, supported by more than $5.6 billion in direct spending across Western Australia, New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

Highlights from across our operations include:

πŸ“ Boddington (WA) – contributes around 41% of local council rates revenue across Boddington, Williams and Wandering

πŸ“ Cadia (NSW) – supports employment reaching around one in every 20 residents across the Central West

πŸ“ Tanami (NT) – contributes the equivalent of nearly $1 in every $40 spent by the Northern Territory Government

Together, Newmont supported more than 54,000 jobs, worked with 2,400+ suppliers, and invested $7.6 million in communities across Australia.

We're proud to support regional economies, local businesses and communities across the country, creating value and improving lives through responsible mining. πŸ’™πŸ’›

🌟Last week, Newmont Cadia's Danica Tyrrell, Asset Operations Superintendent, shared her leadership journey as a panellist at the Women in Leadership Evening during the NSW Mining Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) Conference.

Danica joined fellow NSW Women in Mining Award recipients for a panel discussion on leadership, diversity and inclusion. πŸ‘₯

Drawing on 27 years of experience across the mining industry, Danica shared insights from her career journey, the importance of surrounding yourself with people who encourage and support you, and why women shouldn't wait until they feel 100% ready before putting their hand up for new opportunities.

We're proud to see Danica representing Newmont Cadia and helping inspire the next generation of women in mining. πŸ’›

β€œGo for it. You won’t know unless you give it a go!” πŸ’‘

That's Alec's advice for anyone considering a career in mining.

A fixed plant electrician at Newmont Tanami, Alec has worked in the industry since leaving school and completing his apprenticeship. His career has taken him across Australia and overseas, providing opportunities to develop his skills, build experience and see different parts of the world.

Since joining Newmont in 2022, Alec says the fly-in, fly-out lifestyle has been a great fit.

"Personally, I love this lifestyle. Being out here, working half the year and having the other half off, is a pretty good lifestyle."

When he's not on site, Alec enjoys spending time on the golf course with friends. β›³

"I'm no good at it, but I like to have a go," he laughs. "There's a few of us that get together in our week off and go and play. There's a lot of banter, as you can imagine." πŸ˜„
