Yesterday, our teams across Australia came together for Newmont’s inaugural Always Safe Day.

It was a chance to pause from our usual routines, connect with one another and reflect on something that matters deeply – making sure everyone goes home healthy and safe, every day.

Across our operations and hubs, people shared stories and experiences, had honest conversations about workplace safety and reflected on the everyday choices we can make to look out for ourselves and each other.

While Always Safe Day brought us together for a dedicated moment of reflection, the commitment behind it continues every day – identifying risks, speaking up and taking action when something doesn’t feel right.

Thank you to everyone across our Boddington, Tanami and Cadia operations and our Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne hubs who took part, supported the day and contributed to the conversations.

⛏️ 🏆 Putting Mining Skills to the Test at the APAC Mining Games

Earlier this month, Newmont Australia was proud to support the 2026 APAC Mining Games as this year's Safety Sponsor, providing competitors with the personal protective equipment they needed to compete safely.

The annual competition brings together engineering and geology students from across Australia and New Zealand to test traditional and modern mining skills, build industry connections and learn more about careers in the resources sector.

Our team was well represented, with Graduate Mechanical Engineer Isaac Dow attending alongside guest judges Henry Hall, Graduate Mining Engineer, and Zoe Bodle, Graduate Geologist. We were also pleased to reconnect with 2026 Vacation Students Hugo Anderson and Amelia Reid.

Congratulations to all competitors and organisers on another successful event. We're excited to see these talented students helping shape the future of mining.

Meet Suzanne 👋

As an Underground Haulage Supervisor at Newmont Tanami, Suzanne has built a rewarding career underground after starting out as a truck operator.

"I love the underground environment. You become part of a family, and the inclusiveness is amazing. We all look after each other."

One of the things Suzanne enjoys most about her role is that no two days are the same. Working alongside different teams, she helps keep underground operations moving safely and efficiently.

🤝 What stands out most, however, is the sense of trust and teamwork.

"The support and trust we have in each other are amazing. Everyone looks out for one another."

While working underground comes with unique challenges, Suzanne says it's also incredibly rewarding.

Congratulations to the NSW Rural Fire Service Canobolas Zone on the opening of the new Hot Fire Training Centre. 🚒

Supported in part through the Cadia Legacy Fund, the facility will provide valuable training opportunities for volunteers and emergency responders, strengthening community safety across the Central West.

A fantastic example of what can be achieved when community organisations, government and industry work together.

🎓Celebrating an outstanding graduate👏

Congratulations to Newmont Cadia Graduate Metallurgist Sophie Renton, who has been named the University of Queensland’s Graduate of the Year.

The award celebrates graduates who have demonstrated exceptional achievement both in and beyond the classroom.

Sophie completed her engineering degree with first-class honours, a University Medal and Dean's Commendations for Academic Excellence in every semester of study.

Alongside her academic success, Sophie served as Treasurer of the Chemical Engineering Student Society, was a student mentor and contributed more than 1,100 hours to emergency response, training and disaster recovery through the Queensland State Emergency Service and Disaster Relief Australia.

We're proud to have Sophie as part of the Newmont team and congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition! 🎉👏

💙 The Ripple Effect: One artwork, many conversations 💙

After more than 15 years with Newmont Boddington, employee Sam Rundle has shared a different kind of contribution, donating an original artwork to support mental health awareness across the workplace.

The Ripple Effect reflects the far-reaching impact that mental health challenges can have on individuals, families, friends, colleagues and communities.

The black circles represent those who have faced difficult times, while the blue circles represent the people whose lives are touched by those experiences. Like ripples spreading across water, the impact extends far beyond the individual.

Now displayed in Boddington's mining operations pre-start room, the artwork serves as a daily reminder that connection, support and conversation matter.

From Water Cart Operator to the Shovels Team, Sam has built a remarkable career at Boddington while sharing creativity and talent that continue to make a difference.

Thank you, Sam, for helping keep the conversation around mental health and wellbeing alive.

Meet Rachelle | From underground operator to MineStar Builder 💻

Rachelle began her mining career driving trucks underground.

Today, she's a MineStar Builder at Newmont Tanami, helping maintain the mine model and fleet control systems that keep operations running smoothly.

"Mining is so different from what I thought it would be. The technology and the opportunities to learn and grow are amazing.”

Fascinated by the scale of the equipment and the underground environment, Rachelle was keen to explore more opportunities within the industry.

Today, Rachelle works in the control room, building and maintaining the mine model for the MineStar fleet control system to help keep operations running smoothly. 💻 📊

"We ensure everything is set up correctly and capture accurate data to keep the shift running smoothly. Data integrity is our biggest focus."

"We can see where things are, how they're tracking, and get updates on the health of the trucks. It's been really beneficial for maintenance and reducing radio calls."

Her advice for anyone considering mining?

"Give it a go. The technology and opportunities to learn and grow are amazing. The challenges are there, but it's an incredible opportunity to be part of something from the start."

From Army Communications to Mine Technology 📡

After leaving the Army, Nathan joined Newmont Cadia as a haul truck operator.

Nearly 12 years later, he's built a career that has taken him from Surface Operations to the Site Asset Operations Centre, through an apprenticeship in Technology and Innovation, and into his current role as an Underground Mine Technology Technician.

"I discharged from the Army and got an opportunity here with Surface Operations as a truck driver. I haven't looked back."

For Nathan, it's the variety that makes the role rewarding.

"Variety of work's a big thing that I enjoy with this job. I can work on the surface, underground, with comms techs and auto sparkies. It's just a massive variety."

Nathan's story highlights the diverse career pathways available in mining and the opportunity to continue learning and developing throughout your career.

From Clontarf to Cadia 💛🖤❤️

We're proud to see Cal's story featured by NSW Mining.

Through The Clontarf Foundation, Cal discovered an opportunity at Newmont Cadia that's grown into a rewarding career in mining. Since joining the team in 2022, he's built his skills operating a range of mining equipment as a Mine Technician at one of Australia's largest gold mines.

Cal's journey is a great example of how the right opportunity, combined with hard work and determination, can open the door to a long-term career.
