Congratulations to Dylan Bassett, our first apprentice to complete a full apprenticeship at Lake MacLeod under Leichhardt's ownership.

Over the past four years, Dylan has embraced every opportunity to learn, develop his skills and contribute to the operation.

In summing up his experience at Leichhardt, Dylan says, "I've learned more about electrical work, life and myself than I could have ever thought possible."

He says his apprenticeship was shaped by the people he worked with, the friendships he built, and the unique experiences that come with life at Lake MacLeod, from watching whales pass the jetty to taking in the white salt lakes at sunset.

Dylan's journey reflects the value of investing in our people and creating opportunities for long-term careers in regional WA.

Carnarvon Careers Expo

The future of our workforce was on full display at the Real Futures Pty Ltd Carnarvon Careers Expo—and it's looking bright.

Our team connected with students from Years 9–12 alongside other local employers who share a commitment to create opportunities in our region. One of the highlights was seeing our current school-based trainees proudly sharing their experiences and encouraging their peers to come and say hello.

We also launched our 2027 school-based traineeships, traineeships and apprenticeships in partnership with Programmed Apprenticeships and Traineeships. At Leichhardt, we believe investing in local people strengthens communities and creates sustainable opportunities for both Carnarvon and our organisation.

Dampier Classic celebrates 50 years!

As the four-day fishing spectacular gets underway, Leichhardt would like to wish all competitors taking part in this year’s Dampier Classic the best of luck.

Celebrating 50 years is an incredible milestone and a testament to the dedication, planning and hard work of the volunteers and organisers of the King Bay Game Fishing Club, who have kept the event running over the last five decades.

We’re looking forward to seeing the camaraderie, big catches and celebrations that make this event so special every year.

As part of our continued support in the Karratha community, Leichardt are proud to sponsor the Dampier Classic once again this year.

Polly Farmer Follow the Dream Students visit to Leichhardt HQ

We were delighted to welcome students and staff from the Polly Farmer Foundation Follow the Dream Program to our Subiaco office recently.

Year 10, 11 and 12 students from Carnarvon Community College were welcomed by our Chairman Nick Mitaros and enjoyed a presentation from Project Director, John Blower.

Finance Intern Regan Bassett shared his own educational journey and experience at Leichhardt, offering valuable insight into career pathways within our company. For us, this is what our Community focused value looks like, creating a lasting legacy by helping young people see what's possible.

Thank you to the students and staff for visiting, and to the Polly Farmer Foundation's Follow the Dream Program for the outstanding work you do supporting and inspiring young people in Carnarvon.
