On a curriculum walk, invite students to collect natural objects in order to explore greater than, less than, and equal to.

Encourage students to share their thinking:
I notice…
I wonder…

Does spreading objects apart change their quantity? Is a larger object always greater? Could we bundle sticks into groups of ten? What if one rock represented 100?
