A recent inspection found this AN3 bolt with a shaven head in part of a flying control system. It wasn’t interfering with another part so must have been installed like that! Removed and replaced with a new serviceable bolt.

LAA Engineering have released a new Technical Leaflet on Lifed Components (TL 2.34)

Components that have manufacturer recommended replacement or overhaul intervals are now to be listed in your maintenance records, including the reason for any deviations from manufacturers recommendations. Where deviations are made you must justify this decision and define the inspection or monitoring arrangements to ensure continued airworthiness.

These will be reviewed with your inspector at each Annual Airworthiness Review. If you’d like more info, send a message.
