**EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS AT IWCITA**

Behind the scenes at the Independent Wildlife Crime Investigators & Trainers Alliance (IWCITA), we've been putting considerable thought into the future of our training provision.

Our focus is firmly on developing something distinctive, progressive and genuinely worthwhile — moving beyond traditional presentations to create more engaging, practical and structured learning opportunities.

We're not interested in simply repeating what is already available. Our ambition is to develop training that challenges thinking, builds confidence and encourages a greater understanding of wildlife crime, professional responsibilities and responsible reporting.

There is still work to be done, and we're deliberately keeping some of our plans under wraps for now!

What we can say is that **2027 is shaping up to be an exciting year for IWCITA.**

As always, professionalism, practical education and full recognition of Police Primacy remain at the heart of everything we do.

# # IWCITA – Continuing to Build, Develop and Move Forward

Independent Wildlife Crime Investigators & Trainers Alliance (IWCITA)

There is plenty happening behind the scenes at IWCITA as we continue to develop our professional identity, expand our network and prepare for an exciting 2027.

Our new membership cards, branded heat-transfer badges and promotional banners have now been ordered, helping us establish a stronger and more recognisable presence at training workshops, exhibitions and public engagement events.

We are also experiencing a tremendous amount of interest from organisations across Yorkshire and much further afield, with encouraging discussions taking place about IWCITA becoming involved in future events, conferences, educational activities and collaborative initiatives.

Alongside this, we continue to develop our training resources, professional standards, governance arrangements and working relationships with individuals and organisations across wildlife conservation, forensic science, rural crime prevention, education and law enforcement.

Our membership continues to grow carefully and selectively. For IWCITA, it is about commitment, professionalism and shared values, not simply increasing membership numbers.

We are particularly encouraged by the willingness of others to explore meaningful collaboration. We firmly believe that sharing knowledge, skills, experience and resources is far more productive than organisations working in isolation.

Our ambitions for 2027 are considerable, but our approach remains firmly grounded in what we can realistically achieve.

We remain fully committed to recognising Police Primacy, maintaining clear professional boundaries and delivering practical, accessible wildlife crime awareness and education.

IWCITA may still be a relatively young alliance, but the foundations are becoming stronger, the professional network is expanding and the opportunities ahead are encouraging.
