🕊️ One of the many fascinating lots coming up in our Antiques, Vintage & Collectables Sale on 25th June!

This superb early 20th-century Austrian bronze inkwell is modelled as a carrier pigeon and bears the impressed mark "Geschutzt".

While it may seem unusual to celebrate a carrier pigeon, these remarkable birds played a vital role during the First World War, carrying messages across battlefields and helping to save countless lives.

We've nicknamed this one "Speckled Jim" 🐦
Can anyone guess why? 🤔
