☕🥐 Friday coffees, croissants and good company!

A lovely start to Friday morning with the Tech Recruits team and the lovely Lavina, receptionist at our new serviced offices, Emily Coates and James Lashmar

It was great to get together in the shared office kitchen, enjoy a coffee and a croissant, and celebrate a fantastic first week in our new office!

With World Mental Health Day tomorrow, Saturday 10th October, it's a timely reminder that workplace wellbeing isn't always about big initiatives.

Sometimes it's the little things. Taking time to connect, having a laugh, building relationships and creating a working environment where people feel happy, valued and supported.

After all, attracting great people is one thing, but creating a workplace where they want to stay is just as important.

A great first week, a lovely new working environment and plenty to look forward to! 💜

I’m really pleased to officially introduce James, who has joined Tech Recruits as our new Recruitment Consultant.

James brings a wealth of recruitment experience from across a variety of sectors and environments. Over the years, he has recruited across construction, data centres, engineering, commercial and finance, as well as working within internal talent acquisition teams, including Chelsea Football Club.

He also brings experience of growing and developing teams, which was something that really stood out to me and fits well with where Tech Recruits is heading as we continue to grow the business.

James has recently moved to St Neots with his partner and their young daughter, so alongside starting a new role, he is also settling into a new area and enjoying life as a new dad.

Outside of recruitment, there’s plenty more to know about James.

⚽ He’s a big football fan

🎣 Enjoys fishing when he gets the opportunity

🏋️ Regularly goes to the gym and enjoys keeping fit

🍽️ He’s a bit of a foodie and loves finding new and unique places to eat, trying different restaurants and cuisines.

🌍 He’s travelled extensively and wants to continue exploring more of the world

⛵ One of his ambitions is to sail across the Atlantic one day

And apparently, he’s also pretty difficult to beat at Scrabble… although I’m sure that will be tested at some point!

This first week is all about getting immersed in the security systems integration industry, understanding the companies we work with, the technology and systems they deliver and the different technical roles we recruit for.

James already brings the recruitment experience. Now it’s about building that specialist industry knowledge and introducing him to the brilliant network we have within security integration.

It’s great to have another experienced recruiter on board and to be working together from our new serviced office in St Neots.

Driven, experienced and definitely an interesting character, I’m sure James will make a great addition to the business.

A big thank you to Marcus Lambert for inviting me onto The Control Room podcast yesterday!

I’m usually the one asking the questions, so it was really enjoyable being on the other side of the podcast and having the opportunity to share some of what I’m seeing every day through recruitment across the security industry.

We had a really interesting conversation around skills shortages, the challenges businesses are facing when hiring, why good people start considering a move and some of the recurring themes I hear from candidates when discussing their next opportunity.

One area we explored in particular was how businesses position opportunities to the people they’re interviewing.

It isn’t always just about what the job looks like on day one.

People want to understand what the opportunity could become. What will they learn? How will they develop? Will they be exposed to new technology, larger projects or greater responsibility? Where could the role take them in two or three years?

When you spend your days speaking with both candidates and hiring managers, you start to recognise the patterns behind why people move, why they stay and what ultimately makes an opportunity stand out.

Hopefully sharing some of those observations will be useful to businesses hiring within the industry, as well as individuals considering their next career move.

I also have to mention the studio itself. What a fantastic setup and an incredibly professional production. It was interesting to learn that Marcus has a broadcasting degree from London and great to see him putting that background and experience into creating something specifically for the industry.

Really enjoyed the day, the conversation and the opportunity to contribute.

Good luck in your new job! 💜

A new starter begins a Lead Engineering position today, so I wanted to wish them all the very best in their new role.

This one is a great example of how we work at Tech Recruits.

The candidate had been contracting but reached a point where they wanted something more permanent. More stability, a company they could genuinely become part of, opportunities to progress and train, and importantly, something that worked well around their family commitments.

They weren't simply looking for another job. They were looking for the right long term home.

Interestingly, there wasn't an advertised vacancy that started this conversation.

After speaking with the candidate and understanding their Fire Systems experience, background and what they wanted next, I proactively approached companies I felt could be a good fit.

One of those conversations created the opportunity that they start today. 🙌

And that's something worth highlighting about how we recruit at Tech Recruits.

We look at your experience, your requirements and where you want your career to go, then consider the companies within our network that we believe could be interested in speaking with you.

🌟 A Milestone Week for Tech Recruits Here To Connect 🌟

This week has been a really exciting one for the business as we welcomed Hannah Barnes to the team as our new Recruitment Support & Delivery Coordinator.

For a small business, every growth step is significant, and bringing additional support into the business is an important milestone as we continue to expand and enhance the service we provide to our clients across the security integration and fire & security sectors.
