Now, yesterday I asked you to try and FIND the subscribe forms in your website.

Today’s question for you is...

When did you last actually fill it, or them, in and see what happens?

Go to your website and sign up as if you’re a new subscriber.

First, check what happens after you hit submit. Does the post-submit confirmation message make sense? Does it tell you to check your inbox, or does it say something generic like, “We’ll get back to you” when nobody actually will?

Then check your inbox.

Do you get a welcome email? Is it up to date? Does it deliver what you promised?

One catch: if you’re already on your mailing list, you might not get the same experience as a brand-new subscriber.

So tomorrow, I’ll show you a really simple trick using an email alias to test it properly.

🟡 This week’s are about signup forms.
So, a question for you… Could a brand-new visitor actually find your email sign-up form?

Here’s a really simple website test.

Open your website in incognito mode or a private browser so you’re seeing it like someone visiting for the first time.

Now forget that you know where everything is.

Ask yourself: How easy is it to subscribe?

Can you spot a sign-up form without hunting for it? What about if your landed on your website somewhere other than the home page? Is there a clear call to action? And if someone closes your pop-up, is there another obvious place to join?

Better still, ask a friend or two who don’t know your website. Give them one instruction: “Find where I can sign up to your emails.”

Don’t help them. Just watch what they do.

You might be surprised what you discover.
