BDO Restructuring & Forensics Team and Talent Consulting Services Team recently came together for a meaningful CSR initiative in partnership with Children's Wishing Well (CWW), a registered charity and Institution of a Public Character (IPC) dedicated to supporting children and youths from disadvantaged backgrounds through holistic education and practical assistance.

We spent a meaningful morning together at River Wonders, where the children explored fascinating freshwater wildlife and river ecosystems, met Singapore's giant pandas, Kai Kai and Jia Jia, as well as the red pandas, and enjoyed a day of learning, discovery, and fun. More importantly, the outing gave us the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and create lasting memories with the children. It was a heartwarming reminder of the importance of community, encouragement, and providing positive experiences that help children grow and thrive. This initiative reflects our commitment to giving back to the community.

Established in 2002, Children’s Wishing Well (CWW) provides holistic education through structured programmes for children and youths. We're excited to share our 2026 BDO Sustainability survey.

The results of our global survey of sustainability professionals show that organisations are making steady progress in embedding sustainability, with governance, stakeholder management and organisational structures becoming increasingly mature.

Significant gaps remain in strategic integration, implementation capacity and data-driven sustainability programme management. In terms of implementation, leadership is the weakest category. This points to insufficient engagement and a lack of sustainability knowledge and competencies at management/leadership level.

While sustainability priorities vary by region, a common global theme has emerged in this year’s survey:

Organisations understand the importance of sustainability with most having the knowledge and capability. They require stronger leadership and more accountability at board level, clearer ownership of sustainability programmes and better data to turn ambition into measurable outcomes.

On 3 September 2026, BDO Singapore held Learning Day 2026, a firmwide event centred on strengthening our understanding of BDO's culture, values, and future direction.

A key highlight of the day was the introduction of BDO's Global People Value Proposition (PVP), "We Shape What Matters", which reflects our commitment to creating an environment where our people can learn, grow, collaborate, and thrive. Through the PVP, we are reminded to think beyond, make it personal, and bring our best in everything we do.

Setting the tone for the day, BDO HR & Audit Partner, Jocelyn Goh, shared how our values, culture, and behaviours shape the way we work and succeed together. This was followed by a leadership panel discussion, where leaders reflected on the importance of learning, trust, adaptability, accountability, and purpose in both personal and professional growth.

The learning continued through five interactive breakout stations, where colleagues worked in cross-functional teams and tackled hands-on challenges designed to bring BDO's values and AGILE Framework to life:

🔹 Core Values – Exploring how our values guide the decisions we make and the way we work with colleagues and clients every day.
🔹 Accountability & Excellence – A paper tower-building challenge that highlighted ownership, teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
🔹 Growth Mindset – A handicapped drawing challenge that encouraged participants to embrace challenges, learn from feedback, and step outside their comfort zones.
🔹 Innovation – Designing a future BDO office feature using limited resources, showcasing creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving.
🔹 Lead Purposefully – Collaborative team challenges that demonstrated the importance of communication, empowerment, and working towards a shared purpose.

Throughout the day, colleagues connected across teams, exchanged perspectives, and reinforced a key message: our culture is shaped by all of us through the choices we make, the relationships we build, and the values we live every day.

BDO Corporate Tax Team, in collaboration with the Visual, Audio, Creative Content Professionals Association Singapore (VICPA Singapore) , recently hosted a workshop on Singapore Income Tax for Content Creators. The event brought together industry professionals to discuss the increasing intersection of content creation, business, and taxation.

As the creator economy continues to expand, many content creators face questions surrounding taxable income, the tax treatment of sponsored products and brand collaborations, deductible business expenses, and compliance obligations. Through practical case studies and interactive discussions, participants gained valuable insights into business structures, tax reporting requirements, and common tax pitfalls.

The Q&A session addressed challenges unique to the creator economy, including gifted products, personal branding investments, and the distinction between personal and business expenses. These discussions underscored the importance of proactive planning, maintaining proper records, and understanding one’s tax responsibilities.

We would like to thank all participants for sharing their experiences and perspectives. As the creator economy continues to evolve, BDO and VICPA remain committed to supporting content creators in building sustainable, compliant businesses and contributing constructive feedback to help shape future tax rules.

On 30 August, our Cybersecurity team took part in the WeLL Mural Project at the We Love Learning (WeLL) Centre, contributing to a community painting initiative.

Through a collective effort of painting and creativity, team members helped bring sections of the mural to life, transforming shared spaces within the centre into colourful and welcoming areas for children, families and the wider community.

The activity provided a meaningful opportunity for our team to give back to the community, connect through a shared purpose and create a positive impact beyond the workplace.

This year's conference, themed "New Game, New Rules: Do Boards Need a Reset?", provided a valuable platform for meaningful conversations on how boards can navigate disruption, strengthen resilience and create sustainable value in a rapidly evolving landscape.

As part of its ongoing partnership with Care Community Services Society (CCSS), the BDO Business Services Outsourcing (BSO) team continued to support children in the MacPherson community through academic coaching for Primary 4 and Primary 5 students from CCSS’s CareKids C.A.R.E.tapult Learning Support Programme. This cycle, the programme was enhanced with a Scratch Coding Programme for Primary 5 students, integrating academic support with digital learning.

Over four sessions, students learned coding fundamentals through interactive projects such as Catch the Star and Calculator, then progressed to designing and developing their own games. Guided by BDO volunteers, they built essential coding skills while enhancing creativity, problem-solving, and confidence.

The students' enthusiasm and engagement demonstrated the value of early exposure to digital skills. By combining academic mentoring with technology education, this initiative reflects BDO's commitment to making a meaningful and lasting impact in the communities we serve.

Through its partnership with Care Community Services Society (CCSS), which supports over 3,800 beneficiaries across programmes for children, youths, seniors, and other vulnerable groups, BDO remains dedicated to empowering individuals and helping communities thrive.
