Not all marketing is created equal.

Relaunching a newsletter to an audience that was built around a completely different season of your business is a strange feeling.

A lot of my original newsletter community came from content around single motherhood, moving abroad, rebuilding life from scratch, and figuring things out in real time while growing a business alongside it all. Those experiences are still a huge part of who I am and how I approach my work today.

But over time, my business evolved increasingly toward marketing strategy, content creation, visibility, and helping other business owners navigate the pressure of showing up online.

So when I hit send on the first revamped issue yesterday afternoon and watched the unsubscribes come in, I had to remind myself of something:

The story you tell about yourself and to yourself matters.

It sets the tone for how people see you, what they expect from you, and even how they decide to work with you.

Too often, we get comfortable telling the same story—the one that USED to fit. The one that was authentic once, but no longer represents who we’ve grown into.

That doesn’t mean you’ve changed in a bad way. It means you’ve evolved. And your brand needs to evolve with you.

Sometimes, rewriting your story isn’t about reinventing yourself. It’s about reclaiming who you actually are TODAY.

If your current story doesn’t reflect the woman you’ve become (or the business you’re building), it’s time to rewrite it.
