Founded by legendary tire innovator Harvey Firestone’s son, Leonard, and his son, Brooks, Firestone Vineyard was the first estate winery established in Santa Barbara County in 1972. What began as a dream to plant a vineyard and establish a winery has today, with Vintner Bill Foley’s guidance, grown to 325 certified sustainable vineyard acres in one of the most desirable appellations in California — Santa Ynez Valley.

Today, we raise a glass to Brooks Firestone on his 90th birthday.

A pioneer of Santa Barbara County wine, Brooks helped establish the region's first estate winery and believed in the potential of the Santa Ynez Valley long before it became a renowned wine-growing destination.

In 1987, Los Angeles Times Magazine noted: “Brooks Firestone’s importance to the California wine industry is first of all historical: He was a pioneer, an inspirer, and expander of possibilities; he took a chance on an untried wine area, then stuck with it and made it pay…”

Happy 90th birthday, Brooks—and thank you for helping shape the legacy of Firestone Vineyard.
