“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader.” — Dolly Parton

What a beautiful definition of leadership.

Leadership isn’t a title. It’s the impact we have on the people around us, and what continues because we were there.

Do people dream bigger because you encouraged them?

Do they learn and grow because you invested in them?

Do they believe they are capable of more because you saw something in them?

That is leadership. And that is legacy.

Dolly Parton certainly leaves both. Her authenticity, generosity, business acumen, commitment to education, and ability to remain completely herself throughout an extraordinary career offer so many lessons for leaders.

This Forbes article beautifully explores the same idea: leadership is ultimately measured by impact, not position.

Thank you, Dolly, for reminding us that perhaps the greatest measure of our leadership is what we inspire in others.

“Becoming a leader is synonymous with becoming yourself. It is precisely that simple, and it is also that difficult.” - Warren Bennis

Leadership begins with self-awareness.

The more clearly you understand your strengths, tendencies, values, and patterns, the more intentionally you can communicate, make decisions, and respond to the people around you.

Knowing yourself gives you greater choice in how you lead.

A leadership question for your week:

"What does my team need more clarity from me on right now?"

Clarity around goals, priorities, expectations, and next steps can shape how confidently a team is able to move forward.

Gallup highlights this in "A Great Manager’s Most Important Habit", pointing to the value of regular, meaningful conversations between managers and employees about current goals, collaboration, priorities, and expectations.

Take a minute this week to consider where your team may need a little more clarity from you.

Leadership acceleration begins with self-awareness.

The first pillar of LEAD, Leverage Your Strengths, is designed to help participants develop a deeper understanding of how they lead, how others experience their leadership, and how to intentionally use that awareness to accelerate their growth.

During Module 1, participants explore their leadership strengths, leadership style, common hurdles and blind spots, limiting beliefs and patterns that may be holding them back, and the ways those strengths influence communication, decision-making, and relationships.

Through guided reflection, leadership assessments, interactive discussion, executive coaching, and practical application, participants begin building a foundation they will continue to strengthen throughout the four-month program.

Self-awareness creates clarity. Clarity allows leaders to make more intentional decisions, communicate with greater confidence, and lead in a way that is authentic, strategic, and sustainable.

This module lays the groundwork for every pillar that follows because understanding how you lead is essential to expanding your influence, aligning your leadership, and driving meaningful impact.

Leadership ability is only part of the equation.

Influence, visibility, relationships, and sponsorship all play a role in who advances into leadership.

The good news? These are skills that can be developed intentionally.

The Expand Your Influence pillar of LEAD helps women strengthen executive presence, build strategic relationships, and communicate with greater confidence so they can lead with greater influence throughout their careers.
