On a beautiful, warm September evening, w**e & food lovers gathered in the Stone Cellar for our annual La Paulée dinner.⁠

This annual convivium always recharges our spirit, and it couldn’t come at a better time for our team as they remain in the throes of harvest. We’re so grateful for each of you who joined us at the Home Ranch to celebrate the 2026 crush with our w**emaking team and chef S***a. ⁠

We're humbled and grateful for the mention of 2018 Heitz Trailside Vineyard in Robb Report's "7 Great Cabernet Sauvignons From Napa’s Storied Rutherford AVA," by Mike DeSimone and Jeff Jenssen.

The duo called it "fantastic w**e," offering "aromas of rolled to***co leaf, black plum, and black cherry that transition to flavors of dried Mediterranean herbs, blackberry, cassis, and a touch of both iron and Rutherford dust in the finish."

Harvest is here. Pickers snip the purple bunches in the cool dark before dawn. The Home Ranch is humming around the clock as the fruit comes in. September is when all of our patient work in our vineyards pays off, and we kick off the season with our Luminary Harvest Weekend.

There is no better time to visit. Hop in our our Lexus LX 600 to see Trailside Vineyard in style, in our Rutherford Legacy tour. Reservations for this 2-3 hour tour are understandably limited.

2021 is the kind of pitch-perfect vintage that doesn't come along very often. Our W**emaker Brittany Sherwood describes how it all fell into place.

Veraison, the change in grapes' color from green to purple, has started at our Spring Valley Vineyard in St. Helena. It is about 20-30% complete. ⁠

This is also the time of year where we meet in the vineyard to discuss a thinning plan, and we begin green harvesting to focus the plants' energy on fewer bunches. This improves concentration, ensures even ripening, and hastens harvest, which should begin in early September.

We loved reading Joe Heitz's newsletter from the fall of 1983, and seeing how he sold w**e to his mailing list 43 years ago.

As you can tell from the first paragraph, it's all about the facts. Adjectives are scarce and simple when you find them.

And hot takes like this one leave no doubt about authorship: "The rage lately seems to be to talk how well one's w**e goes with food. (What else was it ever meant for?)"⁠

As we prepare our offer of the 2022 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, we're inspired by this rallying cry.
