Patients aren’t “finishing” documentation at check-in, it’s a signal that intake workflows aren’t fully aligned end-to-end.
Even with digital intake in place, gaps persist when systems are designed to collect forms rather than coordinate documentation across the full encounter. The result is often incomplete records, duplicated effort, and avoidable delays at arrival.
The shift is moving from basic intake to encounter-driven documentation, where information is captured, completed, and validated before the patient walks through the door.
In that model, check-in is no longer the point of completion; it’s simply confirmation.
