In The Matrix Reloaded, when Neo asks why he came to see the Oracle, she tells him: “You’ve already made the choice. Now you have to understand it.” The deeper meaning is that many times in life we are not searching for answers—we are searching for certainty. Deep down, we often already know. The person who keeps saying they want to write a book may already know they need to start, but fear keeps asking for more signs. The person sitting in a parking lot before walking into a new opportunity may already know they should take the chance, but they are waiting to feel ready. The person staying in a relationship, career, or situation that no longer aligns with them may already feel the truth, but they are trying to negotiate with it. Sometimes life is not asking us to discover the answer. Sometimes life is asking us to accept the one already knocking at the door.
