At The Kraal, every dish tells a story of the season. The menu shifts and changes weekly depending on what’s looking good on the farm and in the kitchen.

In autumn, we had this salad on our tables - tiny crunchy croutons, smoked bacon, garden kale, succulent figs and toasted almond dressing.

Three-course farm lunches are served Fridays to Sundays. Booking is essential.

Father’s Day weekend at The Kraal and Joostenberg Estate🍷

A long lunch shared around the table. Organic wines grown and made on the farm. Winter sunshine if we’re lucky, a warm fireplace if we’re not.

Join us at The Kraal from 19-21 June for a weekend of good food, generous hospitality and quality time with family.
Enjoy a wine tasting, settle in for our seasonal farm lunch, or share a simple cheese lunch.

Father’s Day weekend menu features slow-cooked beef short rib, Fairhead, Bakermat and Noble Late Harvest, alongside the thoughtful seasonal dishes The Kraalis known for.

Looking for something extra? On Saturday 20 June, chefs Christophe Dehosse and Munetaka Kimura will host a hands-on kitchen knife workshop, followed by a complimentary wine tasting.

And when the weather decides to play along with a clear, sunny winter’s day, lunch returns to its usual spot out in the courtyard and gardens.

South African tropical fruit version of a classic French Vacherin dessert - layers of meringue, mango sorbet, granadilla sorbet and whipped cream with fresh and dried pineapple. Paired with Joostenberg’s Noble Late Harvest, it all comes together beautifully.

At The Kraal, menus change weekly, shaped by what’s in season and on the farm. Three courses at R565 per person, with the option to add a wine pairing featuring Joostenberg wines.

And when winter settles in, meals move indoors - into the cosy wine tasting room, fire going, rain outside.
