As the days grow longer and the warmer weather settles over the Stellenbosch W**elands, there's even more opportunity to explore the wildlife sanctuary at Villiera.

This summer, we are introducing three daily game-drive departures, giving visitors the choice of an early morning adventure at 09h00, a mid-morning outing at 11h00, or an afternoon excursion at 14h00.

Each offers a chance to experience the sanctuary's diverse landscape and wildlife, where every drive brings its own encounters and discoveries.

And because a visit to Villiera wouldn't be complete without exploring our w**es, each game-drive experience includes a complimentary w**e tasting, a lovely way to round off a visit to Villiera.

For those who enjoy a little sweetness in their glass, Villiera's Pearls of Nectar offers a delightful alternative to the more traditional dry styles of Cap Classique.

Made in a demi-sec style, Pearls of Nectar brings a softer, sweeter character to the glass, while retaining the lively sparkle that makes Cap Classique such a pleasure to enjoy. It's a different expression of our Cap Classique collection, and one that deserves a little attention of its own.

At Fizzy Fest on 14 November, you will have the opportunity to taste Pearls of Nectar for yourself, alongside other expressions from our Cap Classique collection.

Our wildlife sanctuary is as much a part of the w**e farm's character as the Cap Classique we are known for. And at this year's Fizzy Fest, we're bringing these two distinctive sides of Villiera together.

On 14 November, shorter game drives through the sanctuary will offer festivalgoers an opportunity to explore the landscape and wildlife beyond the vineyards. These shorter excursions will give visitors a glimpse of the sanctuary, with opportunities to hop aboard when the safari vehicles are available.

And with Safari Chic setting the theme for this year's festivities, a little adventure feels entirely appropriate.

From the sanctuary's quieter surroundings to an afternoon of Cap Classique, music and food trucks, Fizzy Fest promises a wonderful contrast of experiences, all in one setting.

In the Western Cape, winter rainfall plays an important role in replenishing the water resources that farms depend on through the warmer months.

With lower rainfall this past winter, the importance of using and managing water responsibly is particularly apparent.

At Villiera, water harvesting forms part of our ongoing approach to sustainability, helping us make better use of a resource that can never be taken for granted.

It's a reminder that caring for the land is not only about what we preserve. It's also about how thoughtfully we use what nature provides.

Spring brings a few smaller characters into the spotlight at Villiera's wildlife sanctuary, including our chameleons.

As cold-blooded creatures, chameleons rely on warmth from their surroundings to regulate their body temperature. With warmer days and more daylight, they become more active, making spring a particularly interesting time to keep an eye out for them.

They are easy to overlook, of course. Blending into their surroundings is something chameleons do rather well.

On your next game drive at Villiera, remember to look beyond the larger animals. Our experienced guides have a keen eye for the sanctuary's smaller inhabitants and are always happy to point out the fascinating creatures you might otherwise miss.

Old bush vines play a part in our summer Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc.
A portion of this w**e comes from Villiera’s old bush-vine vineyard, adding freshness and vibrancy to its passion fruit and subtle guava notes.

Our lunch suggestion? Grilled prawns, a squeeze of lemon and a chilled bottle to share.

With still w**e, the cellar team works towards the finished w**e. With Cap Classique, what looks like a finished w**e is really only halfway there. Once the base w**e is made, another transformation remains.

A second fermentation in the bottle. Time on the lees. Riddling. Disgorgement. And, importantly, waiting. It means making Cap Classique requires you to think years rather than months ahead. Decisions made in the cellar today may only reveal their full result much later.
