On the grassy knoll.

Consistent materials through the residence leaves a calming palette for the external and internal spaces. This home has great spaces to gather as a family and also find a quiet space to retreat and recharge.

Site responsive.

Cala is a a project that responds to the site with gentle changes in the floor levels that flow with the contours of the site and also assists in defining the purpose space.

Creating interiors that are always following and flowing with the landscape ensures the connection remains strong from every room.

The materials also define the spaces within the building, blurring the transition through rooms and creating a relaxed calming environment to immerse yourself in the landscape and natural costal bush of the site.

Lines of definition

This project was designed to dissolve into the context of the site and blur the lines of the habitable spaces with the continuation of external textures to the interiors.

To further dissolve the building line, openings were hidden in the materility or dissolves with extensive glazing. Every room in the off grid home, even the circulation spaces carry this detail and transform the spaces above the ordinary.

Quiet amongst the chaos.

Cala is a unique off- grid project set in the coastal bush of the Southwest. The design allows for the owner to enjoy all that the Australian bush has to offer whilst still allowing for the calmness of a landscaped courtyard that can be viewed from all wings of the house.

Natural materials of stained timber, rammed earth and granite along with burnished concrete floors that reflect the palette of the bush also wrap into the interiors that creates stunning textures in all interior spaces.

An amazing outcome was achieved whilst navigating BAL, biodiversity and off grid challenges.

When the shadows start to play.

Really enjoyed visiting site for a project that had a great team collaboration for an exceptional outcome. These are some moments from site with professional photos coming so watch this space.
