Whether you run a restaurant, retail store, gym, or service station, it comes down to this: are you winning as many local customers as possible, and turning them into regulars?

Local Area Marketing by GapMaps helps you turn ad spend into real customer visits, not just clicks and impressions. It uses real-world movement data to help you build campaigns that reach the right local prospects, then shows you how many actually walked through your door.

Because a campaign only pays off when it fills your business and builds regulars.

Stop paying for impressions. Start driving footfall and loyal, repeat customers.

The ABS just redrew the map of Australia, and it's already showing us where the country is growing.

Ahead of the 2026 Census, the ABS has released new Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) boundaries:
📍6,631 new Mesh Blocks
📍1,640 new SA1s
📍98 new SA2s

Boundaries split when population and infrastructure change, so new geography is a leading indicator of growth, well before any Census data lands.

We ranked the 20 suburbs nationally that gained the most Mesh Blocks between 2021–2026, and mapped every new Mesh Block across Melbourne and Sydney. The pattern traces the growth corridors almost perfectly.

Victoria's growth corridors account for more than half the top 20, and while #1 won't surprise anyone, a few further down the list might. When the 2026 Census data begins arriving, these are the areas where the extra detail will matter most.

See which suburb topped the list, why the ABS redraws these boundaries, and the full growth corridor maps. 👉 [https://www.gapmaps.com/australias-new-census-geography-is-already-telling-us-where-the-country-is-growing/]

“The world is changing fast, and analysis paralysis is real. There is so much data available that the harder problem is no longer access, it is speed to answer and speed to decision."

Meet Sally Blandy, GapMaps General Manager of Commercial and Growth.

Her take: pair strong data with real industry knowledge and the right technology, and you can turn information into a confident decision fast, without the paralysis. It's a philosophy that shapes how we work with clients at GapMaps every day.

📊 Mark your calendars: the 2026 Australian Census is coming.

On 11 August, Australia will undertake its next Census of Population and Housing; the most comprehensive snapshot of the nation, capturing data for every person and place across the country. For location intelligence and site selection teams working in the Australian market, this is one of the richest data events on the calendar, offering insights down to small geographic areas and specific population groups.

For our global community who may not be familiar with how Census data flows through to platforms like ours, here's what to expect:

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) will release the data in three key stages:

🗓️ June 2027 – First release: most topics, across nearly all geographic areas
🗓️ October 2027 – Second release: employment-related data and location-based variables
🗓️ Early–mid 2028 – Third release: more complex topics such as distance to work and Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA)

At GapMaps, we know timely data is critical to your decision-making. That's why we commit to updating our platform within 2 weeks of each ABS data release.

In the meantime, our population and age estimates are refreshed every April, so you're never working with stale numbers while you wait for the new Census data to roll in.

Whether you're planning site selection, market analysis, or trade area insights in Australia, we're making sure GapMaps keeps pace with the country's most authoritative data source.

We're excited to announce our partnership with Veitch Lister Consulting (VLC) to launch Traffic Data in Australia as part of our Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) offering.

The new dataset combines nationwide road traffic and pedestrian traffic data into a single analytics-ready geospatial solution, helping organisations better understand how people and vehicles move through places.

Available across Australia, the dataset provides:
📍 Road traffic Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) volumes

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to add over one million new residents each year, based on official statistics. Around 300,000 of these new residents are located in Greater Riyadh, a global city that represents more than 20% of the nation’s population.

Within Riyadh, the north and north‑east are undergoing rapid transformation through large‑scale urban development. Khuzam and Roshn’s Sedra are delivering tens of thousands of new dwellings, reshaping the city’s growth corridor, while KAFD and the recently opened metro are reshaping the commercial office market.

At GapMaps, we’ve mapped all 37 million residents across Saudi Arabia down to a 150‑metre grid, combining the latest census data with mobile‑device analytics and satellite imagery. This enables clients to understand economic potential at a micro‑area level, supporting smarter decisions in site selection, investment, and planning.

Whether you're entering the Saudi market or expanding your network, GapMaps provides the data and insights to help you make confident location decisions. Get in touch to learn how we can support your growth strategy - [email protected]
