International Trade Story of the Week
British food exporters push to overcome post-Brexit trading challenges.
More than 150 British businesses attended the SIAL food exhibition in Paris this week, looking to expand their international reach and connect with overseas buyers.
According to The Times, UK food export volumes fell by more than 10% in the first half of 2026, with businesses continuing to face challenges including customs delays, rising shipping costs and complex border requirements.
Despite these obstacles, British brands remain ambitious, exploring new markets and adapting their products and strategies to compete internationally.

With discussions around a potential UK–EU agreement to simplify food trade requirements continuing, could smoother border processes be on the horizon?

Just because your goods come from the EU doesn't mean they're EU origin.
