10 things Iβve learned about venue size from DJing at 100s of parties, events and weddings. Bigger isnβt always better. For events of 100 people or less, I would always suggest an intimate venue.
Hereβs why ππΌ
1.Intimate parties are just more vibey. Too much space kills the energy before it even starts.
2.In big spaces people tend to dance in their individual friendship groups rather than come together. Intimacy forces connection, and connection is what makes a dance-floor π
3.Pro tip: if your venue is large, hire a dance-floor to keep the crowd together.
4.If a DJ tucked away at the back is watching the party, not part of it. Up close, everything changes. You feel the DJ and the DJ feels you and the energy is waaaaaay better π
5.Smaller venues are usually more cost effective, which frees up budget for the things people actually remember like a fantastic DJ.
6.Energy builds faster in a tight space. One person hits the floor and pulls everyone else in. Once that snowball starts, itβs unstoppable.
7.Up close a DJ catches every micro-reaction and adapts the set to your crowd in real time, if a DJ is too far away from the crowd we canβt read the room properly.
8.Smaller rooms are easier to fill with great sound. No dead spots, no echo. Just clean audio you feel as much as you hear.
9.Intimate events feel exclusive, like everyone was personally chosen to be there. That raises the energy & people feel less self conscious to be the first on the dance floor.
10.Big events can blur if the crowd isnβt big enough for the room. Intimate events where the vibe is incredible stay with you πβ€οΈ
