For those of you new to our page, we are a family owned business with 26+ years of experience manufacturing high-quality antibody, plasma, and antivenom products in the veterinary space using the best science available! All products are proudly made and packaged by hand in Ames, IA.
We honor our equine donors and our mantra is "Let's Save Lives!"
Today is a huge day for Poki and one we have been holding our breath and praying for. A company reached out to us and offered to ship plasma from donors who have been vaccinated for tetanus as well as the massive dose of antitoxin she needs. I started sobbing just typing that. For those that are not aware, the tetanus antitoxin is extremely hard to get in anything but a single dose vial right now. We searched the entire state and surrounding states and got enough gathered for a small dose but the amount she really needs was not available. This is a nationwide shortage. For reference 1,500 units is a single dose and she needs 100,000 units.
The antibiotics she are on will work to kill bacteria caused by the toxin, but this could be what saves her life as time is critical/crucial and this hopefully will escalate her healing. We are so thankful to Mg Biologics for reaching out to us and offering to send this for her.
The products have been shipped to Dr Longoria on dry ice and have just arrived. She will be here around 1pm to start administering and we ask you all who pray to lift Poki up at this time. She needs a miracle.
I will be happy to go further in depth regarding education on this later but right now my focus has to be on Poki. We are working endlessly to provide the supportive care she needs.
