The GPS team heads out tomorrow for the 2026 WICSEC Annual Conference. With this year’s theme, Every Child Under One Sun, the conference brings an important reminder of the shared purpose behind this work: making sure children and families have the support they need, no matter where they call home.

We’re looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new ones, and bringing fresh perspectives back to our work.

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Grays Peak Strategies honors the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and continued sovereignty of Indigenous peoples and Tribal Nations.

Today, we’re especially grateful to celebrate the next generation. Our colleague Chelsee Pree .406, a proud member of the Blackfeet Nation, shares a beautiful reminder of the generations who carry forward their communities, cultures, and traditions.

We honor the children, families, elders, and communities who keep these connections strong, today and every day.

Tribal child support programs are about more than collecting and distributing support.

They can create pathways to employment, financial stability, stronger parent-child relationships, and connections to community-based services, all while allowing Tribal Nations to design programs around their own cultures, values, and priorities.

With the 2024 shift to 100% federal funding, more Tribal Nations have an opportunity to explore developing their own child support programs.

So, what does it take to get started?

Our latest article walks through the start-up process, from initial research and application development to building the policies, staffing, administrative systems, and long-term capacity needed to sustain a program.
